The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay requires SAFETY OFFICER (1 post)
The candidate is required to look after the over all Safety aspects for various departments and laboratories of IIT
Bombay. Preference would be given for those with relevant experience from the Chemical/Pharma/Biotech
Industries. The candidate should be self-motivated, be willing to learn and manage other aspects of safety outside
of his/her sphere of experience and must have excellent written and verbal communication.
Job Description :
-Preparation of safety manuals and training of students/laboratory staff
-Identify various safety infrastructure requirements and supervise their installation /upgradation
- Conduct Safety awareness programs and training
- Conduct Safety audits periodically.
- Liaison with various agencies, both private and government, for hazard disposal, safety
documentation, obtaining relevant licenses etc.
qualification Experience :
The incumbent should ideally be a Ph.D. in Engineering/Sciences with a minimum of 10 years
experience in managing safety related issues, particularly in research laboratories.
Engineering/Science professional, post graduate with relevant specialization in Industrial
safety and significant industry experience may also be considered.
Age : Below 45 years
PAY BAND : Rs. 15600-39100, PB-3
This is a position on contract for a period of three years. Continuation beyond one year is
subject to satisfactory performance.
