Academic Projects :
Hardware Project : “Accident Identifier”
Description :
This is an innovative idea where the primary concern is laid on the identification of accidents. The system consists of a Temperature Sensor, which senses temperatures that exceed a critical fixed value, that occur during the over heating of the vehicle caused by fire. It also consists of a Vibration Sensor that senses the vibrations caused during accidents or skidding of vehicles. The outputs from both the sensors are given to a PIC Microcontroller as inputs. An LCD display and a GSM Modem is connected to the output of the PIC Microcontroller. The GSM Modem is interfaced to the microcontroller by means of a MAX232 IC.
The simplicity of the device is an added advantage.
Software Project : “Design and implementation of cryptoprocessor using AES algorithm”
Description :
Cryptography research has long been important for military and also in use by government, particularly in the realms of diplomatic and communication via internet. In the recent years, as the use of telecommunication networks continues to expand, the demand for increasingly private and secure movement of highly confidential data over those networks will also grow. Obviously, the security of transmitting and storing information is more and more important.
Cryptography provides two ways to solve some aspects of information protection : secret or public key cryptosystems. While the secret key cryptosystem like AES( Advanced Encryption Standard) is inherent in the security problem in the distribution of keys, the public key system such as RSA uses different keys for encryption and decryption. AES algorithm, implememted using FPGA, is a symmetric block cipher that can process data blocks of 128 bits, the cipher has a variable block length and key length.
Other Courses /Training Undertaken
Has attended an Inplant Training for Security Systems Group (SSG), Special Products Group (SPG) and Power Electronics Group (PEG) at Keltron Equipment Complex, Trivandrum.
