This position will pay between 500 000 to 750 000 rupees per year, depending upon experience. This is the first position to begin our presence in India. To begin, the position will be located in your home-office.
The goal of this position is to build our Sales Administration + Rates & Tariffs operations in India.
The home office must include a high-speed internet connection (Minimum: 550 kbs download/ 400 kbps upload), computer, printer, scanner, fax, office supplies and a minimum of 2.5 square meters of space.
The work and the duties :
Sales Administration : this role does not include direct selling operations, which is traditional in the freight forwarding business. This role is to coordinate and support all of the sales activities of the company. Our company offers Import and Export services to and from the USA. We offer these services by air + by ocean ( FCL +LCL services). The sales administration role is to produce sales quotations that our customers request.
Addition, this role includes the updating of our company’s vendor and customer records with any modifications that are needed.
Rates & Tariffs Administration : This role is to coordinate the collection and input into our online database of all the rates : air, ocean-LCL, inland, and FOB + DDU rates that we receive from overseas agents. This work is constant, with four peak seasons : January, March, June, Sept/October.
This position is initially responsible to the General Manager, but will eventually be responsible to the V.P. Sales and Marketing.
Eventually, the person chosen for this position will hire more persons to specialize in these areas.
The skills required :
We currently handle all of this work in our offices in Los Angeles. These skills are essential :
Excellent organizational skills in Microsoft outlook (to manage communications with colleagues in our company, with vendors, and overseas customers(foreign agents).
Excellent organizational skills to maintain electronic files of excel sheets for many types of rates and tariffs.
Understanding of freight forwarding terms, incl. Incoterms, air and ocean-freight costs and charges, import and export costs and charges.
Airports and ports : IATA 3-letter airport codes, ocean ports of the world.
Extensive understanding of Microsoft excel, including learning to use and to write new formulas.
We will give preference to candidates who have competed a college degree, and have already worked in a management position in an international freight forwarding company- with import and export sales quotation experience.
