PROJECT :-

- Presently doing M.Tech Project on “BIODEGRADATION OF FLUOROPHENOL USING SEQUENCIAL BATCH REACTOR” under the guidance of Dr.Basavraju Manu, Asst. Prof. Civil dept.NITK, Surathkal.
Fluorophenolic compounds are used as agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals and cause serious environmental contamination. These are Xenobiotic compound which tend to be recalcitrant and hence, tend to persist in the environment.. In this project, I am studying the biodegradability of fluorophenols (namely 2-fluorophenol and 4-fluorophenol) at different dosage rate and its effects on COD removal efficiency at an OLR of 2 Kg COD/m3day with the help of Sequential Batch Reactor. Six reactors have been acclimatized at an OLR of 2Kg COD/m3day out of which 3 is aerobic and 3 is anaerobic (2w+1s).After acclimatization various dosage of 2-fluorophenol and 4-fluorphenol (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 mg/L) will be used as influent to anaerobic reactor first (for defluoridization) and the effluent from anaerobic reactors will be feeded to aerobic reactor. The biodegradation efficiency and the factor effecting biodegradation will be evaluated.
