Description :
aim of the project is to validate the RRC features in the mobile handsets, which are going to be launched to the market in near future, against the test specifications provided by 3GPP.
This project includes Conformance Testing of RRC protocol by using Conformance Tool set. This project involves Execution of ETSI test cases from 3GPP specifications 34.123-1(for 3G) on test system ANITE SAT.
The RRC layer that establishes and controls the communication link between UE and Network. That means it is responsible for generating signalling between the UTRAN and the UE and for the configuration of Layers 1 and 2.The RRC Entity controls all the NAS signalling and mobility of connected UEs. It has control SAPs to all the other UTRAN entities such as MAC, RLC, BMC, PDCP and Physical layer.
The objective of this handset validation is to classify the technical problems found when testing a handset and in fine to give a technical overview on the product.
Responsibility :
Involved in 3G phone testing activities
- Responsible for reviews, analysis of test cases document, execution of test cases and bug reporting.
- Executing and validating the Test Cases.

Project #2 : PROTOCOL STACK TESTING OF MOBILE HANDSET.
Duration : August 2009 to july 2010
This project is mainly used for testing L2 and L3 protocols i.e. MAC, RLC, RRC. The L2 and L3 protocols are tested by using a standard known as GCF forum
GCF : GCF (Global certification forum) is a forum for compliance and certification of wireless mobile handsets based on GSM or UMTS standards.
GCF is responsible for set of test cases for conformance of mobile handsets throughout the world. These test cases are executed by using the GCF approved tools.
Protocols tested : L2, L3 Protocols i.e. RLC, MAC and RRC
Tools used :
ANITE : ANITE produces a wide range of test tools for performing the conformance test tools. In this project we use ANITE SAT-A tool. The tool can run on different software packages for different technologies like GSM,GPRS and UMTS.The ANITE tool uses AGILENT 8960 as radio transceiver.
AGILENT : AGILENT 8960 is in the form of the box & provides emulator environment with base band processor. It also provides logical &physical channels for transmitting of GPRS data transfer.
Roles & Responsibilities :
- Preparing test cases according to 3GPP specification
- Tracing out the bugs by capturing logs
- Reporting the bugs to developer
