    Academic Project :
Title : “MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF DUAL PHASE STEEL”
This project is successfully established in EAST WEST INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BANGALORE as a part of Bachelor of Engineering Degree.
DP steel is high strength low alloy steel. In this project we have considered two different phases i.e., ferrite and martensite in varying percentage and found out the mechanical properties.
We prepared the different combinations of DP steel by heat treatment process; each base material has different martensite percentage. It was then subjected to different tests.
Four combinations of DP steels are prepared by heat treatment process at different temperatures (730, 760, 800, 820 degree Celsius) and obtained different combinations of ferrite and martensite.

    TESTS CONDUCTED :
    - Tensile test :
Specimen were turned and grounded in a CNC machine according to ASTM standards, gauge length was noted and tested in a UTM, tensile strength obtained is around 800mpa to 820mpa and %elongation was found decreasing with increase in volume of martensite(15,12,10,10).
    - Impact test :
Impact test were carried out on standard charpy V-notch bars, the scale set at 300 joules and pendulum is raised to 140 degree vertically and released. Impact energy was found to be increasing with increase in martensite percentage.
    - Hardness test :
Micro hardness values were determined using a hardness tester, square based diamond shaped indenter was used and readings were taken for the load of 500gms. The micro hardness found increasing with increase in martensite volume.
It is been observed that both hardness and impact toughness values significantly increased with increasing martensite volume fraction between 35%-64% and then decreases.
The results obtained showed the unique combinations of strength and ductility, tensile strength and hardness are much higher than normal steel.
The DP steel is mainly used for structural and automobile applications.
    - Structural applications include beams, columns, bridges, flyovers etc.
    - Automobile applications include chaises, front and rare crash guards, earthmovers etc. One of the main advantage of using DP steel in automobile industry is, it helps in reducing the weight of Vehicles.

    Hobbies and Interests :
Sports, Traveling, Gaming, Listening to music, collecting information about automobiles

Status : completed and has presented this work at international conference (AMMMT) held at Siddaganga institute of college, Tumkur.
In the competitive global market automobile industries are under pressure to produce an efficiently performing engine. In this context research is carried out to reduce the weight of engine & to increase fuel efficiency and thermal coefficient.
The Main objective of this project is to substitute New Magnesium Alloy AM-SC1 with Aluminum alloy as an Engine Block Material through Heat Transfer Analysis.
For this I created geometric CAD model of Engine Block Using CATIA V5 R19 and it is imported to Hypermesh for Meshing the model and Analysis is carried out using ANSYS solver to see which material will give better heat dissipation.
