Title : Instrument Landing System
Brief Description :”Instrument Landing System “is a ground based approach system. It provides guidance to an aircraft, guidance to runway for safe landing due to metrological conditions. The three parameters which are essential for a safe landing are azimuth approach guidance, elevation approach guidance and range from touchdown point. These are provided to the pilot by the three components of the ils namely localizer, glide path and marker. Later marker is replaced by DME (Distance Measurement Equipment).The function of a localizer unit is to provide, which are placed vertically infront of antennas. The function of glide path is to provide, an inclined plane aligned with the glide path of the runway for providing elevation guidance to landing aircraft.DME is range from pilot to touch down point.
