Role purpose:
Part of the design centre, act as the leading expert throughout a solutions lifecycle, including the creation of a design & resolving technical issues arising during pre-sale, delivery and operation.
Supports Technical Development Managers in implementing programmes & programme modifications
Ensures that projects are carried out to the necessary quality in accordance with agreed standards

Key Accountabilities:
· Technical verification of customer requirements
· Proactive identification of up sell opportunities
· Detailed design in area of expertise.
· Create the Customer Design Document in conjunction with the Competence Centre
· Provide all relevant technical information and documentation for its handover and acceptance into Service Operations.
· Provision of technical consultancy where required.
· Billable technical consultancy to existing and prospective customers
· Actively participate in technical forums and other specialist communities
· Drive the transition of non-customer facing activity to back-office
· Liaison with Operations to ensure newly proposed designs are supportable.
· Provide training to shared services centre Operations teams where necessary.
· Attend training (internal or external) where appropriate to ensure ongoing skill levels.

Experience:
· 4 to 7 years of total work experience, with at least 3 years in relevant area of expertise, of which at least 2 years should have been engaged in design activities / working on projects related to designing & delivering solutions.
· In-depth technical and design skills in Network and Security (Switching, routing, firewalls, IDP/IPS).

Additional Accountabilities:
► In-depth technical and design skills in Network and Security (Switching, routing, firewalls, IDP/IPS).

Networking:
· Qualified with Cisco CCNP / CCDP / CCIP certification
· Excellent understanding of Layer 2 switching, including VLANs, STP, trunking (802.1q) and ether-channel
· Excellent understanding and practical experience of IP routing and routing protocols especially OSPF, ISIS, BGP & MPLS
· Excellent knowledge of IP addressing and sub netting

Security:
· Qualified with ISC2 CISSP, CCSP certification
· Knowledge of ASA, Checkpoint, Juniper Firewalls and High Availability implementations
· Knowledge of intrusion detection systems preferably ISS Proventia

Networking & Security- Desirable Skills:
· In-depth knowledge of Cisco catalyst switches, Cisco routers & Cisco Load Balancers
· Knowledge of Big IP F5 Local Traffic Manager and Global Traffic Manager Load Balancers
· Knowledge of authentication systems incorporating RADIUS, TACACS.
· Knowledge of authentication systems incorporating RADIUS, TACACS, ACE SecurID, PKI.
· Experienced in developing and designing Security Policies and Processes (e.g. Incident Response, Intrusion Management, …)
· Security Architecture: Network Topologies, Zones, Defense in Depth, Intrusion Management Architecture
· Anti Spam, Anti-Malware (Worms, Virus, Rootkits, etc.), Cryptography (SSL inspection, etc.), Web Content Control (URL, Scripting, XSS, …), General Proxies
· Knowledge in any of the below areas of Managed Services Design Centre (Data Centre solution& services) would be advantageous:
· Servers and Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, VMware, HP ProLiant)
· Storage and Backup (EMC, NetApp, SAN/ NAS, FC, iSCSI, Unix)
· Applications (Exchange, SQL, Oracle)
