Nationwide Credit, Inc is one of the largest asset recovery agencies in U.S.A. Access Collection System is an in-house product developed by NCI so as to perform the collection activities. Access System has two-tier architecture with AS400 as front end for users to view debtor information and Mainframe on backend which does all the processing and transfers updated data to AS400 after nightly processing. NCI perform collections mainly for Amex, Bank of America, GE Finance, Barclay Card, Discover, and JP Morgan Chase.
Projects Undertaken :
DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE ON ACCESS SYSTEM
- ACH in Access : The main objective of implementing ACH functionality in Access is to reduce the payment processing time, cost and faster fund availability. ACH Payments are taken by collector through AS400 with the information provided by the debtor. ACH transactions are sent from AS400 to Mainframe for processing. The current dated ACH payments are posted and future dated ACH are added to the postdate system for future processing after validations. Every day processing starts with a pull from the postdate system, where all the checks dated current or less than current is pulled for processing. After each processing updates are sent to AS400 and once posting for a day is completed, EOD processing is done, NACHA file is created and sent to bank for further processing.
- Amex Mindue & Rate2 Implementation : All the payments posted on Amex accounts have to be based on minimum due amount and with two rates. The payment system has been changed so as to post all payment with Rate1 till the minimum due amount and the remaining with Rate2. Changes has been made to maintenance program to accept and update NCI system with both rates and minimum due amount which was sent by Amex for existing inventory. New Business programs were also changed to accept and update the rates and minimum due amount for new inventory.
- Automation of NSF processing : The NSF processing has been automated as per the request from payment processing. The NSF payments were initially entered manually. With the automation of this process, user can select the action which has to be taken on the NSF thru CICS online screen. Once the action has been selected a job is triggered through CICS which posts all the NSF’s to the system.
CUBS MIGRATION PROJECT
CUBS system was a third party system which was used by Nationwide to perform collection for 4 of its clients. The conversion of 300,000 accounts from CUBS to Access helped in replacing the CUBS system and thereby reduction in operation cost. The migration has been done in four phases; during each phase one client was converted from CUBS to Access. New Interface programs have been written to handle all new accounts, maintenance and outbound reporting to client. Programs have been written for migrating existing inventory from CUBS to Access.
