“EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE PERFORMANCE OF HYDROGEN INDUCTED VEGETABLE OIL(CASTOR OIL)DUAL FUEL ENGINE”

Project Details :-

Vegetable oils are receiving a lot of attraction as alternative engine fuels as they are renewable. The main problems with the use of neat vegetable oils in diesel engines are high smoke levels and relatively lower thermal efficiency as compared to diesel fuel. Literature suggests that is a dual fuel mode of operation with hydrogen can lead to significant increase in performance and reduction in smoke emission levels. In this work the dual fuel method was investigated to study the effect of hydrogen energy share on the performance.
In the present work, a single cylinder diesel engines was run on high viscous fuel (castor oil is about 185Cst) with hydrogen. The performance parameters of the engine have been studied. Finally these results were compared with deisel-hydrogen dual fuel mode.
