Job Description :

This development engineer will report to the Senior Manager – Support Tools Development, and will be responsible for developing customer and support center facing tools and system integrations that will avoid case creation, enable automated case closure, mine useful support data, present proactive service data, and integrate internal support systems with external supply chain partners enabling end-to-end case automation and substantially lower time-to-resolve. Along with managing CS-facing development activities, this leader will interface with all adjacent group to ensure that their work product is aligned and complementary to other projects in motion, and contributes to a high-value support systems infrastructure that delivers useful information, faster problem resolution, customer service departmental self-sufficiency, and incremental services revenue. This development engineer will be responsible for :
* Assisting management with project definition and priorities
* Schedule and resource planning for approved support tools projects
* Development, debugging, test and deployment activities
* Coordinating development activities with cross-functional groups working on adjacent projects and systems

* Deliver high-quality support tools to the 3PAR Customer Service teams that :
o Speed a new support engineer’s time-to-productivity
o Deflect in-coming cases to customer self-help tools
o Successfully close cases via end-to-end automation
o Analyze crash files and auto-correlates them to known defects
o Deliver cases to support engineers wrapped in meaningful and useful troubleshooting information

* Projects expected during the first 12 months in this role would include but not be limited to :
o Create a push-button “Supportability Audit” from phone-home data warehouse
o Automated CRM case creation, customer transmission, and closure for administrative alarms and alerts that don’t require Support Center intervention
o Create a Crash Dump analysis tool that connects crash signature to know defects without Engineering intervention
o Create automated scripts that start with system alerts, and result in automated collection of troubleshooting data that either fully resolves, or assists in the resolution of support cases
o Integrate CRM cases with the parts and dispatch partner systems enabling end-to-end RMA and Engineer dispatch without human intervention

Experience and Skills :
* BS CS/EE and/or Masters Degree are an advantage, but a demonstrable track record of success in similar roles is more important than specific education credentials.
* Experience in these additional areas is a plus, but not specifically required : XML, Java / Javascript, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, API Integration, TCP/IP and LAN/WAN architectures,Data Modeling, OLAP, BASH / PHP.
* The ideal candidate will have excellent English written and verbal skills and an extended and successful track record of support tools development experience in similar environments.
* This development engineer must be experienced and proficient in the following technical and programming disciplines:SQL, Files Systems (NFS, NAS, SAN, CIFS, Fibre Channel, etc.), C-Programming, Perl Scripting.
