In this Study Response of benzoate along with phenol to different anaerobic inocula has been investigated in batch reactor. Anaerobic Biodegradability of Benzoate and Phenol were evaluated using various sludges and the effect of varying concentrations of benzoate has been investigated.

a). Lower Basildon STW- Capacity 56 m3/d
Lower Basildon STW located at Readings has no discharge consent at present. The STW is designed for 216 PE for 2021 to meet the discharge consent of River Thames. Review of the process design proposed by contractor for two options-1 : Septic Tank + Reed Bed System and option-2: Septic Tank and Aerated Lagoon. The Septic tank + Reed Bed system is proposed as the feasible option based on the process calculation results and site conditions.
Worked on pilot projects feasibility study for Cannock and Llansilin treatment works.
b) . Cannock STW –Capacity 18.7 MLD
Cannock STW located at Staffordshire has failed in terms of discharge for aeration and Phosphorous removal. Undertook the study for the cause of the failures and design suggested for the replacement of diffuser system in aeration tanks and comparative study of Biological/Chemical process carried out for P removal and recommended chemical dosing. Out of existing six aeration tanks located at the STP suggested to run five in summer & six in winter to save the power consumption.
c). LIansilin STW- Capacity- 68 m3/d
Llansilin STW is located in the west of Oswestry has operational and hydraulic deficiencies and failed to meet the Discharge consents in terms of SS. The study was carried out and analysed for different options to mitigate the failure and recommended to replace the existing STW with new RBC System.

Title : Anaerobic Degradation of Benzoate
Duration : from July 2006 to July 2007
Project Overview: As phenol is a toxic pollutant coming from oil industry, coal industry and petrochemical industries etc. and found in range of 10-10,000 mg/L. It is found that the degradation of phenolic wastewater is difficult, so the alternative is to treat this phenolic wastewater in two phases. In Phase I the degradation of phenol to Benzoate and in Phase II from benzoate to methane, which is a valuable end product. Keeping the toxicity of phenol in view this study was done. In this study toxicity of benzoate was evaluated and also found that the degradation of benzoate is easier as compare to phenol.

Title : A study of Wastewater Plant of an Oil Industry
Industry : Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) of Indian Oil Corporation Limited,
Mathura
Project Overview: In this project, study of ETP Plant of IOCL, Mathura was done. Activated Sludge Plant was studied in emergency conditions, when Bio tower was not working with ASP to know the changes in operational conditions of ASP, also the treated effluent water was examined to check whether the effluent of ETP follows the CPCB MINAS or not before discharging into Yamuna River.
