BIG APPLE EXPORTS PVT. LTD., SEP 1998 TO DATE BANGALORE – FABRIC MANAGER
This is a large and reputed buying office of KRAZY KAT SPORTSWEAR INC., USA, in Bangalore, with a turnover of over Rs.100 crores.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
To source about 5 to 6 lakh meters of yarn-dyed and greige fabric per month from the powerloom and mill sectors.
- To analyze and develop samples as per buyer’s requirements/original
- To negotiate and place bulk orders of fabrics on suppliers.
- To follow-up on sampling and bulk orders and ensure not only timely delivery of fabric but also technical specs such as shade matching, colour fastness, shrinkage, threads/inch, design, structure, overall look etc., as per approved samples/buyer’s requirements.
- To visit dyeing factories and weaving centres as and when required, interact at a personal level and generally facilitate smooth execution of bulk orders.
- To communicate with the parent company at New York on a daily basis regarding status and approvals.
BUYERS SOURCING FOR : KOHLS, JCP, AEROPOSTALE, DRESSBARN, MAURICES, JIMMY’Z, TARRANT, ETC.
ACHIEVEMENTS :
1) Set up a strong and reliable supply base characterized not only by quick and prompt response but also capable of delivering very good quality fabrics with fastness grades of 3-4 (wet), 4-5 (dry), washing/staining (4) and also fastness to light (4).
Have done a significant amount of product development involving dobbies, jacquards, leno patterns with dobby and heavy dobby weaves, crepes, voiles, High Twist, puckered lycra fabrics, etc., in both yarn dyed and greige varieties.
Extremely conversant with fabric structure and design analysis, production planning and control, textile calculations, design aspects of both greige and yarn dyed varieties and costing/pricing in the powerloom sector.
Familiar with simplified testing methods for textile materials in respect of shrinkage, colour fastness to rubbing and washing, strength parameters, etc.
2) ALSO set up a SCARVES DIVISION under the fabric dept in April 2008. Have shipped over 7 lac scarves till date to AEROPOSTALE, MAURICES, DRESSBARN, ETC. The range includes cotton, cotton/rayon and 100% rayon scarves with textures, dobby weaves and also double cloth patterns in solid, yarn dyed and print.

ACHIEVEMENTS :
Trained a full workforce within three months and executed bulk orders to the above markets to the complete satisfaction of all the buyers.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
To manage the Weaving Preparatory and Weaving Departments in shifts.
ACHIEVEMENTS :
Joined the organization as an apprentice and earned an excellent reputation while training under the Japanese engineers during the erection and commissioning of Tsudakoma Semi-Automatic weaving machines.
Educated and trained the workforce on the sequential process of silk twisting and weaving preparatory processes. Made them understand the importance of not mixing up ‘S’ AND ‘Z’ in the twisting process, which would otherwise cause very serious defects in the fabric and heavy wasteage/rejection of expensive raw material and fabric.
