ARTIFICER APPRENTICE (AA)

[LIST=1][*]This examination is held twice a year at Visakhapatnam generally in the month of april and October as advertised in the Employment News and leading News Papers.[/LIST]
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS

[LIST=1][*]Marital Status: Only Unmarried male Indian citizens and subjects of Nepal are eligible.[*]Qualification: 55% or more marks in aggregate in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Maths.[*]Age: 17-20 years, Height – 157 cms.[/LIST]
PAY AND PREREQUISITES

[LIST=1][*]Pay & Allowances: The Artificer Apprentices Basic Pay Band is Rs.5200-2020. In addition they will be paid Grade Pay @ Rs.2000/- plus MSP @ Rs.2000/- plus ‘X’ Group Pay @ Rs.1400/- plus DA.[*]Promotion: Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer I equivalent to Subedar Major of Army. Opportunities for promotion to Commissioned Officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations.[*]Prerequisites: During the entire period of training and thereafter, sailors are given books, reading material, uniform, food and accommodation etc. free of cost. On completion of training sailors get leave on free railway warrent.[*]Sailors are entitled to medical treatment and Leave Travel Concession for self and dependents, Group Housing Benefits, and other privileges at Government expense. Insurance cover of Rs.5,00,000/- is given by Naval Head Quarters at a nominal premium of Rs.500/- per month. Sailors also have the privilege to avail upto 60 days Annual Leave and 30 days Casual Leave every year. Post retirement benefits include pension gratuity and leave encashment. Children education and house rent allowances are also admissible.[/LIST]
WRITTEN, PHYSICAL & MEDICAL EXAM

[LIST=1][*]Sailors will be included on the basis of a ‘All India Merit’ List, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Medical examination.[*]Written Test: The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and of objective type. The Question Paper will comprise of four section i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge. The standard of question paper will be that of 10+2 base. Duration of question paper will be of one hour. Candidates are to bring their own clipboard & pens.[*]Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory. This will consist of 1.6 km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 25 Squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push ups.[*]Medical Standards: Weight correlated with height and proportionate chest with minimum expansion of 5 cms. Good medical and physical health, free from any disease / disability. No cardio-vascular, surgical deformities or infection of ears. No history of fits or psychiatric ailment. Minimum height 157 cms. Colour perception:CP II. Candidates are advised to get ears cleaned wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to apply for examination.[*]Visual Standards: Type of Entry[/LIST]

Applicants declared permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital in previous recruitment for the same entry in navy as advised not to apply.

TRAINING AND INITIAL ENGAGEMENT

[LIST=1][*]Training: 9 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by 8 weeks of sea training. Thereafter approx. 2 year training at INS Shivaji / Valsura.[*]Discharge As Unsuitable: Sailors are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE due to unsatisfactory performance at any during the training.[*]Initial Engagement: The initial engagement is subject to successful completion of training which is extendable to the age of 57 years depending on Medical fitness, the rank attained and satisfactory performance. The initial engagement is of 20 years.[/LIST]
