Project Name : THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF DISC BRAKE
Duration : 12th dec to 11th jan -2008
Role : Team Member.
objective :
My project aimed at evaluating the performance of a disc brake of a car under severe braking conditions and there by assist in disc brake rotor design and analysis. An investigation in to usage of new material is used which improve braking efficiency and provide greater stability to vehicle. We have done this investigation using ANSYS software. We as our role in the project has been made to investigate the effect of stiffness, strength and variations in disc brake rotor design on the predicted stress and temperature distributions. By identifying the true design features, the extended service life and long term stability is assured. A transient thermal analysis has been carried out to investigate the temperature variation across the disc using axis symmetric elements . An attempt is also made to suggest in best material for disc rotor by comparing the results obtained for different materials.


WORK EXPERIENCE
· I am working in BHEL R.C.Puram as a Graduate Apprentice in Electrical Machines Division from Feburary 2009 to till date. During the above period I have worked in PPC(Planning and Budgeting) in Electrical Machines division.
During my stay I have looked after the following activities:
