Applications are invited from Internal / departmental candidates only for the following posts.
Definition: A staff member is eligible to be considered as internal / departmental candidate provided the member is a regular staff, i.e., the member is appointed against a regular post in TIFR and has completed 3 years of continuous service in the Institute.
Age Relaxation: Relaxation upto a maximum of 5 years, for regular staff, is permissible.
Others: i) NOC from Reporting Officer / Section Head is mandatory.
ii) There is no relaxation in qualification required for the post.
iii) Internal candidates selected for the new post will be on probation for one year during which period ‘on the job training’ may be given, if deemed necessary.
iv) The substantive post vacated by the regular staff, after appointment to the new post, will be filled as per procedure.

1. Scientific Assistant–B (Trainee) [1 ST PWD (HH); HQ: Khodad]
[Stipend: Rs.6500/- PM. On absorption: TME: Rs.21655: Pay: 9300 in PB-2 9300-34800 GP: Rs.4200)].
Educational Qualification: B.Sc (Physics / Electronics) / BCS with more than 60% marks in aggregate
Nature of job: Initial training in electronics, computer systems and operation of radio telescopes as Trainee for 1 year. A bond has to be executed before joining to serve NCRA for at least 3 years after successful completion of training. Successful training will lead to absorption, as Scientific Assistant in PB-2: 9300-34800 with GP: 4200 [TME: 20655].
Job description: Operation of radio telescope and computer systems, software and system developments for the improvement of telescope functions.
Age: 43 years.

2. Technical Assistant-B (Mechanical) [1 UR; HQ: Khodad]
[TME: Rs.21655: Pay: 9300 in PB-2 9300-34800 GP: Rs.4200)].
Educational Qualification: First Class Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 2 years in a reputed organization / factory. Experience in erection work and working knowledge about rotating machinery is essential. Experience in CAD / CAM will be an added advantage. Knowledge in NDT will be preferred.
Job description: Installation, operation and maintenance of static and moving / rotating state of the art structures related to the GMRT; will be required for work on machinery on platforms at heights of upto 30 metres.
Age: Below 28 years.

3. Tradesman-B [Fitter] [1 OBC; HQ: Khodad]
[TME: 13807: (Pay: 6460 in PB-1: 5200-20200 GP: 2000)].
Educational Qualification: First Class ITI (Fitter) with NCTVT. Experience: Minimum 2 years in fabrication and assembly in a reputed organization / factory. Knowledge of structural assembly and fabrication will be an added advantage.
Job Description: Maintenance and operation of rotating machinery related to the GMRT. Will be required for work on machinery on platforms at heights up to 30 metres. Age: Below 28 years.

4. Cook [1 UR; HQ: 1 Khodad]:
[TME: 12749 (Pay: 5830 in PB-1 5200-20200 GP:1900)].
Educational Qualification: 10th pass.
Experience : Three years experience as a cook in a large hotel/restaurant/kitchen/canteen. Preference would be given to candidates familiar with Indian, continental and western cooking
Job Description: The incumbent should be able to estimate, plan and cook food for around 200 people per occasion. Should be ready to work in shift duty.
Age: Below 28 years.

5. Work Assistant (Mechanical) [1 OBC; HQ: Khodad]:
[TME: 11690 (Pay: 5200 in PB-1 5200-20200 GP:1800)].
Educational Qualification: 10th pass.
Experience: Two years experience in operation and maintenance of hydraulic equipments. Experience in on-site erection jobs will be an advantage.
Job Description: To support erection, operation and maintenance of mechanical structures and other allied works at the GMRT. Will be required to work on platforms at heights upto 30 metres.
Age: Below 28 years.
