    The Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology is one of the National Institute under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research which is an autonomous body.
    It is located on a 250 acres of land with the backdrop of snow-covered peaks of Dhluladhar Range in salubrious climate. The Institute is engaged in research and technology development programmes for sustainable management of bioresources of the Himalayas. The Institute has successfully carried out mission-oriented projects on tea, temperate floriculture and aromatic plants and is well equipped for Tissue culture and Biotechnology. Facilities include Tea Processing Unit, FRP greenhouses and equipments like GC-MS, FT-IR, Ultrascan, Automated DNA sequencers, Photoshop imager, Q-TOF, XL Laser densitometer, HPLCs, IMALDI-TOF, CONFOCAL MICROSCOPY, CO2 Extractor, FPLC, HP-TLC, IRGA, NMR, Scintillation counter, computer networking etc.
    Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following posts:

    Post No.1: Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Veterinarian Pathology (01 Post -DR)

    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D in Veterinaryl Pathology with one year expenence.
    Desirable: Experience in histological and clinical aspects of pathology and knowledge about regulatory issues.
    Job Requirement: Histopathological and clinical studies as per GL,P norms.

    Post No.2: Scientist Group IV (2) -Animal Breeding & Genetics (01 Post -SC)
    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D in Animal Breeding & Genetics/Animal Biotechnology/Medical sciences with one year experience.
    Desirable: Working experience in animal facility of R&D institutions, knowledge of GLP, CPCSEA veterinary medical ethics, laboratory animal techniques animal welfare regulations, training in laboratory animal medicine, knowledge of breeding and rearing of small laboratory animals.
    Job Requirement: Management and veterinary medical services to experimental animal species, scientific breeding practices with production and development modified animal models, conducting genetic characterization of laboratory animal species and strains and their quality control measures (rodents, rabbits and guinea pigs).

    Post No.3:, Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Ecology (01 Post -UR)

    (for High Altitude Research Centre at f-ibbling in Lahul & Spiti) Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in Botany / Forestry/ Ecology with one year experience in survey.
    Desirable: Working experience in Himalayan region.
    Job Requirement: Field surveys in Himalaya for ecological studies documenting patterns and processes ofibiotic and abiotic interactions. Resource mapping using RS/GIS techniques.

    Post No.4: Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Food Microbiology (01 Post -UR)

    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in Food Science / Food Technology OR equivalent area with one year experience in the area of food microbiology. Desirable: '. Knowledge of regulatory testing of food and related items, and determination of objectionable microbes in food and related items. Working eiPerience in processing and development of Food and Nutraceuticals products.
    Job Requirement: Development and safety evaluation of functional foods and nutraceuticals products, evolving techniques for high through-put quality test of food and related products.

    Post No.5 :Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Plant Molecular Biology (01 Post -OBC)

    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D. in Life Sciences with one year research experience in plant transgenics.
    Desirable: Working experience in the area of vector construction and expression analysis as evident frompublications.
    Job Requirement: Raising of transgenic plants and gene expression analysis.

    Post No.6: Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Pharmacology (01 Post -DR)

    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ph.D.(Pharmacology/Life Sciences/Biotechnology) with I year experience in the area of pharmocology.
    Desirable: Candidate should have experience in tools and techniques employed to undertake experiments for systematic bio evaluation and studies on molecular mechanism of actions of lead compounds used in human nutrition/food !herbal products as evident from publications.
    Job Requirement: To actively participate in the bioevaluation of synthetic/natural molecules for human nutrition/food !herbal products.

    Post No.7: Scientist Gr. IV (2) -Agrochemicals
    & Pest Management (01 Post -ODC)
    Essential Qualification and Experience: Ph.D. in Agricultural Entomology/ Agrochemicals Zoology (Entomology) with one year experience in the area of evalurtion of pesticides.
    Desirable: Candidate should have knowledge of development of b10formulations / biopesticides and their evaluation under lab and field conditions and pest management as evident from publication In refereed journals.
    Job Requirement; Crop protection, screening of biomolecules and formulations for biopesticide development.

    Post No.8: Technical Group III (4) -Nanotechnology (01 Post -DR)

    Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ist class RSc. in chemical sciences with eight years experience OR M.Sc. in chemical sciences with minimum of 55% marks with six years experience
    Desirable: Working experience in the area of nanotechnology.
    Job Requirement: Running and maintenance of sophisticated; instruments pertaining to nanotechnology like Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), Atorhic Force Microscope (AFM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).

    (3)-Molecular biology (01 Post -DR) Essential qualificatien: Ist class B.Sc. in any area of Biological sciences with five years eX'p~rience irl relevant fiel~ OR RTech. (Biot~ch.) /.M.Sc. in any ar~a of biological sciences with mimmum of55% marks with three years expenence ill the relevant field.
    Desirable: Working experience in various molecular biology techniques particularly DNA sequencing.
    Job requirement: Maintenance & running of genome analyser. To assist scientists in
    sequencing, data generation and interpretation.

    Post No. 10: Technical Group III (3) -Chemical engineering (01 Post -DR)

    Essential Qualifications: B. Tech/RE. (Chemical Engineering) with three year experience OR
    M. Sc. (Industrial Chemistry) OR equivalent degree from recognized University/Institute with 55% marks with three years experience.
    Desirable: Working experience in chemical process equipment design, production of essential oils, aromatics, drugs/phytomolecules/herbal extracts in R&D or industrial units.
    Job Requirement: Designing pilot/commercial scale process equipments/plants for medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) processing. Process development, upscaling and optimization of technologies for natural products. Process data generation on chemical engineering unit operations, process simulation, applications of modem extraction techniques like supercritical, microwave-assisted extractions, membrane-based extractions/separations etc.

    Post No. 11: Technical Group III (3 ) Animal House-02 Posts (1 Post ODC
    & 1 Post SC)
    Essential Qualificationsr Ist class B.Sc (zoology, botany, chemistry1 or equivalent with five years experience OR B.V.Sc. /M.Sc in Life science OR equivalent degree from recognized University / Institute with 55% marks with three years experience.
    Desirable: Experience and training on working with laboratory animal species, their care and management including nutritional and feed monitoring, knowledge of CPCSEA norms, animal ethics and GLP guidelines.
    Job Requirement: Management of breeding of laboratory animals, conducting routine animal techniques during housing, management, disease investigation CVId experiment formulation, processing and production of animal feed, health and microbiology monitoring equality control feeding trial studies, assisting scientific staff in execution of laboratory animal management practices.

    Post No. 12:: Technical Group III (1 ) Regulatory facility (01 POSit -ODC) Essential Qualifications: Ist class B.Sc. in the area of life sciences ot equivalent

    Desirable: Animal cell culture and routine laboratory techniques and knowledge of microbiological techniques,
    Job requirement: To assist scientists in conducting experiments for regulatory analysis/tests, upkeep cultures and maintenance of labs.

    Post No. 13:· Technician Group II (1) -Knowledge Management [01 Post -UR-PH-(Hearing Impairment)
    Essential Qualifications and Experience : SSC/IOth standard with 50% marks in the aggregate and IT! certificate in data entry and computer applications OR SSC/HSC/12 th in science with Computer / Information Technology as one of the subjects and a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
    Desirable: Sound knowledge of computers applications.
    Job Requirement : Maintenance of data bases for knowledge management.

    3. The essential experience wherever prescribed should be in the relevant area/field.


    4. The date for determining age/experience/qualifications shall be the closing date ofreceipt of applications.


    5. The period of experience in a discipline or area of work wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualifications.

    7. The above posts shall carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees, as have been made applicable to CSIR employees of the same status stationed at Palampur. Higher initial basic pay may be considered for exceptionally meritorious and deserving candidates.


    8. Relaxation in upper age limit upto five years only in the case ?f Group
    IV Scientists may be allowed to the employees of Council/Central/State Government!Al#onomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Government of India from time to time in this regard.

    9. Relaxation of upper age limit for Ex-Servicemen and PH candidates will be applicable as per Govt.
    of India orders.

    10. Relaxation of upper age limit is admissible upto 5 years to the
    sC and upto 3 years to the OBC candidates only in those cases where the posts are reserved for the respective categories.

    11. Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years applicable for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period of 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 subject to production of a certificate from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction he/she had ordinarily resided OR from any other authority designated in this behalf by the Government of J&K state to the fffect that he/she had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.


    12. Candidates belonging to SC/OBC/PH should enclose a certificate in the prescribed form issued by the competent authority in support of their claim.


    13. Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate application form for each post indicating clearly the advertisement number and serial number of the post accompanied by separate application fee.

    14. An ap.plication fee of Rs. 100/-(Rupees one hundred only) non-refundable is payable (candidates belonging to SC / PH, and regular employees of CSIR are exempted from payment of application Fee) , in the form of crossed Demand Draft with validity of six months, in favour of Director, Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology and payable at Palampur (Himachal Pradesh).

    15. The candidates working in Government Departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies and Government funded research agencies should apply through proper channel and attach a certificate that there is no vigilance case pending against him/her. However, candidates may send an advance copy of the application alongwith requisite fee (wherever applicable) before the last date of receipt ofapplication. '

    16. Relaxation in age, qualification and/or experience may be permitted in case of exceptionally meritorious/deserving candidates with the prior approval ofthe Competent Authority.

    17. Outstation candidates (within India) called for interview will be raid to and fro ordinary second class ~ail fare/ordinary bus fare for attending the interview from the place of their residence or nearest railway station/bus stand or actual place of undertaking the journey, whichever is nearest to the place of interview.

    18. Candidates must indicate as to whether any of their blood/close relatives is working in IHBT or any other National Labs. Instt. of the CSIR.

    19.Selected candidates shall be liable to serve in C.S.I.R. labs/Instt. anrwhere in India.
