NACO jobs 2010 : Program Officer (Lab service Division)

Applications are invited for appointment of Program Officer (Lab service Division)
on contractual basis.
Duties and responsibilities:
1) EQAS:-
a. Provide technical support to assists EQAS activity for NRL’s, SRL,s
and ICTC’s/ PPTCT’s/blood banks.
b. Coordinate and ensure timely preparation and reporting of EQAS
panels of the Apex, NRLs , SRLs and ICTCs.
c. Data compilation, analysis and reporting
d. Ensure that quarterly positive and negative samples are being sent
to the supervisory lab for confirmation.
e. Provide training, on-site supervision and national and regional
meetings and Workshops On Laboratory Strengthening.
2) HIV Drug resistance:-
a. Compilation of viral load reports.
b. Coordinate with viral load labs
c. ARV drug resistance monitoring and surveillance
‐ . Monitoring viral load testing and EQAS for viral load at linked centers
for second line ART roll out.
3) Training:-
-Preparation of training material like power point presentations/
guidelines.
-Preparation of modules for training of Quality Manager, Technical Officer
(SRL).
4) SRL/ NRL Lab quality issues, assessment and accreditation :-
a) Provide technical assistance to support HIV/AIDS prevention and care
initiatives focusing on quality assurance, standardized assessments of
National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) and state reference
laboratories while building national capacity for lab assessment and
accreditation.
b) Assist in revising and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
for HIV laboratories.
c) Assist in revising and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
for HIV laboratories.
5) Equipments:-
a) Monitoring system for supplied equipment for laboratories.
b) Formulation of technical specifications for equipment.
6) Other:-
‐ Activity related to consortium.
‐ Vaccine trials
‐ Review research proposals related to tests received at NACO for
technical comments.
‐ Establish and coordinate the network of laboratories capable of
participating in future evaluation and ready to involve in newer
diagnostics like of opportunistic infections.
‐ Visit at least one state per quarter and review SRLs (at least two), 3
blood banks and 5 ICTCs in each state.
7) Any other matter assigned by ADG (LS), DDG (DB) & Sec and DG, NACO
&DDG.
Educational Qualification and Experience:
MD (Microbiology) preferable / DNB (Medical Microbiology), preference will be
given if the candidate has been working in the field of HIV/AIDS
Remuneration: Rs 51,750 - 75,000 per month
Duration : Initially the contract shall be for a period of one year.
Age: Not more than 50 years.
