RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF REGISTRAR
The Institute of Mathematical Sciences is a National Institution of higher learning
whose primary purpose is to foster high quality fundamental research in frontier
disciplines of the Mathematical Sciences. It is an autonomous body funded by the
Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India and the Department of Higher
Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. The Institute follows the Central Government
pattern of service conditions.
The Institute is looking for a person for the position of Registrar, who, as head of
administration and accounts, will have rapport with the academic staff members and will
provide responsive administrative support to the developmental activities of the Institute.
The vacancy is likely to arise from 01.08.2010.
Qualification:
1) Essential : (i) The candidate should be a graduate from a recognized
University with adequate knowledge of Government of
India rules and regulations with exposure to personnel
and administration, finance and accounts.
(ii) Experience in scientific Institutions and in computer
techniques and their applications will be an added
advantage.
(iii) Minimum experience of 15 years in responsible
administrative positions in a supervisory capacity with not
less than 5 years service should be in a position in the
revised pay band of Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs.
6600/- (pre-revised scale of pay of Rs. 10000-325-15200) or
equivalent.
(iv) Suitable candidates based on their qualification / experience
and is working in the revised pay band of Rs. 15600-39100 +
Grade Pay Rs. 7600/- (pre-revised scale of pay of Rs.
12000-375-16500) with a minimum of 5 years experience in
the pay band can be considered for higher scale of pay of
Rs.37,400-67000 + Grade Pay Rs. 8700/-
Pay Band and Grade Pay : Revised Pay Band of Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade
Pay Rs. 7600/- (pre- revised scale of pay of
Rs.12,000-375-16,500) or revised Pay Band of
Rs. 37400-67000 + Grade Pay Rs.8700/- (prerevised
scale of pay of Rs.14,300-400-18,300)
depending on the experience/qualification/suitability. The
incumbent will be entitled for HRA as per rules of the Institute
in case accommodation is not provided besides usual
allowances as admissible to Central Government
employees stationed at Chennai, from time to time.
Age : The preferred age of the candidate should be around 45
years and not exceeding 55 years. However, this can be
relaxed for deserving cases.
Applications neatly typed on a plain paper along with attested photocopies of all
certificates as to proof of Date of Birth, Educational Qualifications, Experience,
Knowledge of Computer operation, permanent address, address for correspondence with
email id, details of certificates enclosed affixing passport size photograph should reach

seeking age relaxation as per Government of India orders should submit caste certificate
in the prescribed format. The envelope containing the application should be superscribed
as "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF REGISTRAR".
GENERAL CONDITIONS :
1) Candidates working in Govt./Semi-Govt./Public Undertakings/Autonomous
Institutions should apply through proper channel and they should enclose a
“No Objection Certificate” from the present employer, at the time of written
test/interview.
2) The prescribed qualifications are minimum and mere possession of the same
does not entitle candidates to be called for written test/interview. The decision
of the Director of this Institute in all matters will be final and binding on the
candidates and no enquiry or Correspondence will be entertained in this
matter.
3) Only outstation candidates (who belong to SC/ST category) called for written
test/interview will be reimbursed to and fro II Class (Sleeper) train fare by the
shortest route from the place of Residence/work place to Chennai on
production of tickets.
4) Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected.
5) Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
