Recruitment to the posts of Scientist ‘D in National Centre for Medium Range Weather
Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida.

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for filling up of 4 (four) posts of Scientists ‘D’
 in the pay scale of PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + 7600 (Grade Pay) (General Central Service, Group
 ‘A’ Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) on direct recruitment/Deputation basis in the National Centre for
 Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida.
 .
1. Particulars of the Post:
(i) Name of the Post: Scientist ‘D’

 (iii) Class: Group ‘A’ Gazetted
 (iv) Scale of Pay: PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + 7600 (Grade Pay)
1.1 Job Description
(i) Research and Development work related to Numerical Weather Prediction Modeling.
 (ii) Research and development work pertaining to data assimilation and data processing.
 (iii) Software development including development of diagnostic tools, database
 management, porting and parallelization of codes.

2. Eligibility Criteria:
Essential:
(i) Master’s degree in Physics/ Geophysics/ Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/
 Atmospheric Sciences/ Computer Science/ Meteorology/ Oceanography or
 Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University or
 equivalent with at least first class (60%).
 (ii) Nine years’ of experience in teaching (at post graduate level) or research and
 development, survey administration, planning, supervision or training in the fields
 of Atmospheric Sciences or Meteorology.

Desirable:
(i) Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology or Doctorate in any branch of
 sciences related to Atmospheric Sciences or Meteorology or equivalent from a
 recognized University.
 (ii) Experience in parallel computing in HPC Environment.
 (iii) Experience in FORTRAN C and UNIX in scientific computing environment.

3. Officers working under the Central Government or State Government or Universities or
 Recognized Research Institutions or Public Sector Undertaking or Semi-Government,
 Autonomous or Statutory Organizations holding analogous posts on a regular basis; or
 with five years regular service in posts in the pay scale of PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + 6600
 (Grade Pay) or equivalent may also apply.

4. Age Limit (as on closing date :)
Not exceeding 50 years.
Note: 1. The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of Secretary,
 MoES in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, if at any
 stage of selection, the Secretary, MoES is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates
 from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill
 up the vacancies.
Note: 2. Doctorate Degree will count as 3 years experience.
Note: 3. Age is relaxable upto 5 years in respect of Government Servant in accordance with
 the orders issued by Government from time to time)

5. General Conditions:
I. The number of posts to be filled may vary. The Ministry reserves the right to
 cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason.
 II. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of
 the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. If the number of
 applications received in response to Advertisement is large, it will not be
 convenient or possible for the Assessment Board to interview all those
 candidates. So, the Ministry may restrict the number of candidates to be called
 for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of desirable qualifications and/or
 experience prescribed in the advertisement as per the specific requirement of the
 Ministry. No correspondence will be entertained with candidates who are not
 called for interview/selected for appointment. CANVASSING IN ANY FORM
 WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATURE.
 III. Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro second class rail
 fare by the shortest route.
 IV. The selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India and outside.
 V. Experience will be counted after completion of essential academic qualifications,
 while a completed Doctorate degree will be counted as three years experience.
 In case a candidate has obtained the above degree while in service, only his/her
 service period will be counted towards experience and he/she will not get any
 additional weightage in experience for acquiring Doctorate towards total period of
 experience.
 VI. Reservation for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and Physically
 Handicapped (OH, PH) will be governed as per Government instructions.
 VII. HOW TO APPLY: Applications should be neatly typed on thick plan paper (A-4
 size 210 x 297 mm) in the prescribed format given below.
 (a) Candidates working in Government Departmental/Public Sector
 Undertaking/Autonomous organizations should apply in the attached proforma
 through proper channel.
 (b) Copies of certificates in support of educational qualifications, date of birth,
 Disability (OH, PH,), Community (in case of SC/ST/OBC candidates only) and
 experience should be attached with the application. Candidates will have to
 produce the original certificates as and when required.
 (c) Applications received after the closing date or received incomplete in any respect
 are liable to be summarily rejected. No representation against such rejection will
 be entertained.

 Registered Post in a cover superscribed “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF

days (60 days for those in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram,
 Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and Kashmir
 State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of
 Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep) from the
 date of publication of this advertisement in employment news/leading
 newspapers.
