Details of Vacant Posts for the PG Programmes conducted by the University Departments

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Equivalence for Ph.D. is based on publication of 5 international Journal papers, each Journal
having a cumulative impact index of not less than 2.0, with incumbent as the main author and
all 5 publications being in the author’s area of specialization.
2. Ph.D. shall be from a recognized University and should not have been obtained by
correspondence mode.
3. For an incumbent Assistant Professor, experience at the level of Assistant Professor will be
considered equivalent to experience at the level of Associate Professor, provided the
incumbent Assistant Professor has acquired or acquires Ph.d Degree in the relevant
discipline.
4. Experience at Diploma Institutions is also considered equivalent to experience in degree
level Institutions at appropriate level and as applicable. However, qualifications as above
shall be mandatory.
5. If a class / division is not awarded, minimum of 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered
equivalent to first class / division. If a grade Point System is adopted the CGPA will be
converted into equivalent marks as below:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Professor

1. Publication in referred journals of repute (National / International) and participation in
Conference / Symposia / Seminars by way of presentation of papers;
2. Active involvement in development of educational programmes of social and national
relevance including continuing Education programmes/Short-term Refresher
Courses/Summer/Winter Schools;
3. Experience in the preparation of syllabi for academic courses, project reports, proposals
for development programmes etc.
4. Active involvement/participation in consultancy work in industry/research and
development organization.
5. Experience in the organization and administration of academic
departments/laboratories at University level;
6. Experience in the setting up of Laboratories, fabrication of equipment, preparation of
lecture notes, laboratory instructional materials, computer aided instructions software;
and
7. Membership in professional bodies of repute (National / International) relating to the
field of specialization.

Associate Professor

1. Publication in journals of repute (national / International);
2. Participation by way of presenting papers in Conference / Seminars / Symposia of
professional bodies;
3. Participation in Summer / Winter Schools / Institutions etc.;
4. Experience in organizing and conducting laboratory classes / experiments and
preparation of course materials; and
5. Membership in professional bodies of repute (National / International) relating to the
field of specialization.

Assistant Professor and equivalent categories

1. A doctorate degree in the field of specialization relating to the post;
2. Publication in journals of repute (National / International).
3. Participation in Summer / Winter Schools / Institutions etc.;
4. Membership in professional bodies of repute (National / International) relating to the
field of specialization.
SCALES OF PAY

Professor : Rs.37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay 10000
Associate Professor : Rs.37400-67000 + Academic Grade Pay 9000
Assistant Professor : Rs.15600-39100 + Academic Grade Pay 6000
The Pay carries DA, HRA, CCA and medical Allowance as admissible at the rates in
force from time to time. The employee has to subscribe to the Contributory Pension Fund. The
employee has to contribute 10% of basic pay, Grade pay and dearness allowance every month
and the University contributes an equal amount. The employees are not eligible for any other
Provident Fund or pension scheme.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS

1. The applications should posses the essential and desirable qualifications and
experience as on 01.07.2010.
2. Completed applications along with Demand Draft for Rs.500/- ( Rs. 125/- in the
case of Tamil Nadu SC / ST candidates) drawn in the favour of the Anna University
of Technology Madurai and dated not earlier than 08.08.2010 should be sent to the
VICE-CHANCELLOR, ANNA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY MADURAI, Alagar
Kovil Road, Madurai – 625 002, by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due or
by Courier Mail and the envelope containing the application should be superscripted
on the left hand top corner as “ Application for the post of …………….. …………” .
The last date for the receipt of the completed application is 30.08.2010 by
5.00 p.m. The University is not responsible for any postal delay / loss in transit of
the application. The completed application may also be dropped in the box at the
Tapal section at the Administrative Building of the University.
3. Separate application should be filed for each post.
4. Application from candidates who are employed will be considered only if forwarded
through proper channel or a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer is
produced at the time of interview.
5. Candidates are required to forward their applications in the prescribed form,
accompanied by attested copies of degree certificate and other academic
distinctions, transfer certificate from the Institution last studied, reprints of
publications, evidence of age, evidence of community, professional experience,
present position, and salary drawn.
6. If a qualified and suitable woman candidate belonging to SC, ST, MBC, BC or GT is
not available for selection for appointment against the vacancy reserved for women
in the advertisement it shall go to a male candidate within the respective category,
who is eligible and found suitable for the post by the selection committee.
7. If no qualified and suitable candidates belonging to SC(Arunthathiyar) are available
the seat reserved for SC(A) will be filled up by other SC members on merit basis.
8. Applications incomplete in any respect and those received after the due date will be
rejected.
9. Applications from persons who do not possess the minimum prescribed qualification
for the post will be summarily rejected.
10. Interim correspondence in connection with the application will not be entertained.
11. Appointment on deputation basis will not be considered under any circumstances.
12. In case, the number of applications received is 5 times more than the number of
vacancies, a test will be conducted, to shortlist the candidates.
13. Applicants should be prepared to come for a test and / interview at Madurai at their
own cost.
14. Requests for change of date of test / interview will not be considered.
15. Candidates will be asked to give a short lecture as a part of interview in order to
judge the communication skills and presentation capabilities.
16. The decision of the Syndicate on the recommendation of the Selection Committee
shall be final and no appeal or correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.
17. If the selection for any post notified above could not be conducted by the University
for any reasons, the application fee shall be refunded to the candidate concerned.
18. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
19. Orders for appointment for selected candidates will be issued according to seniority
fixed, as per the roster for communal reservation laid down by the Government of
Tamil Nadu, for each category of post in the respective department.
20. The selected person shall join duty within the time prescribed by the University and
no extension of time for joining will be allowed under any circumstances. Failure to
join duty within stipulated date will result in the cancellation of the selection. The
University will not enter into any correspondence with the present employers of the
selected candidates on any matter related to their relief for joining duty in the
University.
21. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for the posts now advertised.
