Kandla Port Trust calls Walk-in-Interview for engagement of Pilots on Contract Basis having option of 3 schemes for a period of 3 years at Offshore Oil Terminal, Vadinar (Dist. Jamnagar), Gujarat and at Kandla and also to prepare a panel of selected Pilots who can be called as and when the vacancy arises. Qualification: Must hold Certificate of Competency of Master Foreign Going. Age Limit: 60 years, relaxable upto 65 years.
Interested candidates may appear for Walk-in-Interview till 31st August,2010 in A.O.Building, Kandla Port Trust, , Gandhidham (Kutch) Gujarat-370 201 alongwith original Certificates of qualifications, date of birth, experience etc. together with a set of certified true copies of these documents and 2 photographs.

ANNEXURE-I
Engagement Schemes and Terms & Conditions :
Scheme – 1
Rs. 7,500/- on days they are available for pilotage operations. However, for less than 12 hours availability on any day they will be paid @ 50% of the daily allowance + Travelling allowance as per actuals subject to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- in a calendar month. No traveling allowance will be admissible to the Pilots who have been allotted Port accommodation
During the period of training daily allowance will be restricted @ 75% of Rs. 7,500/- i.e. Rs. 5,625/-Minimum availability will be 15 days per calender month and will be staggered to ensure availability at the administrative convenience and will attend all the movements including night movements scheduled for the particular day.
Transportation will be provided at airport/ railway station, as the case may be at the time of arrival and departure.
Scheme - 2
Payment per Movement basis + Travelling allowance as per actuals subject to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- in a calender month. No traveling allowance will be admissible to the Pilots who have been allotted Port accommodation.
Rate applicable are as follows:
(a) Retention allowance of Rs. 1,000/- per day
(b) Day time pilotage @ Rs. 1,500/- per act
(c) Night time pilotage @ Rs. 2,000/- per act

Scheme – 3 Lumpsum Payment per month
Training period Rs. 50,000/- per month
Lumpsum payment Rs. 1,35,000/- per month
1) The working hours will be 12 hours on and 12 hours off with a weekly holiday. He will report to the Deputy Conservator, Kandla Port Trust and will work in accordance with the instructions and the direction of the Deputy Conservator, Kandla Port Trust.
2) He is entitled for 12 days casual leave per year.
3) Ex-Pilots who have already done training and full tonnage, will be begin with salary of Rs. 1,35,000/- subject to fulfilling provisions permitting him to do pilotage.
4) In case a Pilot want to avail leave other than casual leave or refuses to work on any day, deduction of a sum proportionate to the period of absence will be calculated based on the month emoluments divided by 30.
5) Proposed salary will be irrespective of number of moves and size of the ship handled in a shift.
6) The amount is fixed for a period of three years and will be reviewed only after three years or at any time if felt necessary by the Port Trust.
7) He shall on his engagement as Pilot execute a Security Bond to the effect that he shall serve in Kandla Port Trust as Pilot on contract basis for a minimum period of one year as per proforma.
8) For the purpose of work as and when required to be deputed on official tour he will be entitled to draw TA/DA as applicable to the category of the post held by him with prior approval of the Chairman on each occasion through Deputy Conservator, Kandla Port Trust. TA/DA will not be paid for joining this contract assignment.
9) The contract engagement shall not confer on him any right or claim for Regularization in the Port service against any vacant post whatsoever.
10) The contract Pilot when not performing Pilotage Act will also carryout the works pertaining to Marine Department as per directions of Deputy Conservator/Harbour Master.
Qualification
a) Must hold Certificate of Competency of Master Foreign Going
b) Age Limit -60 years – preference shall be given to Pilots below the above age of 58 years. However, relaxable upto 65 years considering the fact that a number of Mariners retired as Pilots from other Major Ports may be available to meet the requirement.
General Conditions applicable to all schemes
1) Pilots on contract basis will be engaged initially for a period of three
years which is extendable for a further period of three years, if
required by the Port Trust.
2) Either side can terminate the contract by giving one months notice. In case of Scheme-III, this is applicable after one year Bond period.
3) The above allowance is applicable to shipping movements at all Cargo/Oil berths, SBMs, Product Jetty or any other shipping operations including Pull back operations within the port facilities required to be done by the Pilot.
4) The Pilots who opt to stay in port quarter will be allotted "C" type quarter or equivalent quarter in Port colony at Kandla or Vadinar as the case may be on payment of Licence Fee as applicable to employees.
OR
Accommodation if required, will be provided in the Port Guest House, Gopalpuri/Vadinar on payment basis as applicable to Port Officers.
For Scheme-I at Vadinar if Port is unable to provide Port quarters, Pilots may make own arrangements to stay at Vadinar/Jamnagar. However, transport will be provided for attending pilotage duties.
5) Medical facilities will be provided to self only, while staying at Kandla/ Vadinar to the extent available in the Port Hospital/Health Centre.
6) The Pilots will be provided with air-conditioned vehicle for attending pilotage operations.
7) In case of refusal to perform any pilotage duty or non-availability after reporting the day will be considered as non-available;
8) The Pilots engaged for Kandla or Vadinar will be available for pilotage job at either place in exigencies.
9) The contract Pilot will be treated as an employee of Kandla Port Trust from time to time he goes to the ship or leave the jetty for pilotage work till he returns to the jetty after completion of pilotage operation for the purpose of taking responsibility for injuries sustained by him during the course of pilotage operations.
11) In the event of any dispute arising out of this contract, the interpretation and decision of the Chairman, Kandla Port Trust will be final and binding.
