National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (an autonomous Institution under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, responsible for co-ordinating the Indian Antarctic Expeditions) is looking for trained personnel preferably Ex-Indian Army personnel from EME/Engineers Corps on contract basis for its research base at Antarctica for the season 2010-2012 as per details given below:

Terms of Employment: The contract wages for the selected candidates will be as follows:
1). Contract wages of Rs. 15,000/- per month for the entire duration of contract for those who are going to Antarctica for the first time. Contract wages of Rs. 20,000/- per month for the entire duration of contract for those who already have been to Antarctica on NCAOR contract.
2). Special Hardship allowance of Rs. 450/- per day during the summer season and Rs. 675/- per day during the winter season for the actual duration of stay in Antarctica.
Summer season will be from 1st December, 2010 to 28th February, 2011.
Winter season will be before 1st December, 2010 and after 28th February, 2011.
3). The contract will be between 6 months to 16 months starting from September, 2010 depending upon the suitability of the candidates.
4). Ex-servicemen attending the interview are advised to bring along with them their Identity Card, Discharge Book.
5). Only the Ex-Serviceman will be paid return fare by train (sleeper class) and accommodation for maximum 3 days at the rate not exceeding Rs. 300/- per day will be reimbursed on production of railway ticket/hotel bill.
6). Candidates (including Ex-Servicemen) are advised to bring along with them their Personal Passport (if any) and 6 copies of Passport size photographs with white background.
7). The short listed candidates immediately after the interview will have to undergo medical examination at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi & proceed for Pre-Antarctic Snow Ice Acclimatisation training at ITBP, Auli (near Joshimath, Garhwal, Himalayas) for about 15 days. The candidates are advised to come prepared with woollen clothings.
