Research Project /M.Sc. Dissertation :
The aim of the project was ‘The identification of functionally related genes in Prostate and ascomycetes microarray dataset using Isomap and MDS techniques in SPSS (statistical analysis software) software especially when dataset are completely fresh’.
The outcome of the experiment indicated that a non-linear dimensionality reduction technique, Isomap is most promising method when data are large having more clusters. This type of study is highly useful in modern research as it links molecular techniques to analysis and identifies up/down regulated genes/gene clusters.
Training/ Workshop :
Selected for workshop on DNA purification and RAPD fingerprinting at St’ Xavier’s College Ahmedabad conducted by FICCI-EU-GTZ Biotech resource Center, from 20Dec 2006 to 22 Dec 2006.
I learned and performed molecular techniques such as, isolation and purification of DNA from plant and bacterial cells, PCR, Gel Electrophoresis and DNA sequencing.
Employment History :
- Personal tutor, teaching Biology at I A Education Services since March-09 till June 10, in All-levels. Age group 16-22.
Subject taught : Molecular biology techniques, Microbial Genetics, Microbiology, General Biology, Immunology and Biochemistry.
As a tutor I am responsible for solving difficulties related to subject and making student prepared for examination.
Skills :
- Took special modules on genomics and proteomics. I am competent in use of sequencing tools like BLAST and Entrez search engine finding SNPs and locus in map viewer.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer. I have used statistical analysis software SPSS and other data visualizing tools in my dissertation.
- I teamed up with volunteers (participants) to visualize the microarray graphs. The observed data were presented in a meaningful manner to draw a conclusion and within time limits.
- I have written a critical review on various dimensionality reduction techniques and on microarray data analysis.
- I gave classroom presentations on Congenital Immune deficiency, Antibody Diversity, Filtration techniques, Monoclonal antibody and Pharma cogenomics-a medicine for an individual.
Interest :
I was engaged in retail business in my early childhood (family owned). Doing this has developed an understanding of commercial world and basic business aspects. I was mainly allotted with handling of external affairs such as purchasing and delivering goods, payment, and banking. I take great interest in every year budget plans.
