Applications are invited from Male Indian Citizens for filling up 19 posts
of SUB-INSPECTOR (OVERSEER) Group ‘B’ in temporary basis likely to be
permanent in ITB Police. The posts have all India liability and selected candidates
can be posted anywhere in India and even abroad. On appointment, the candidate
shall be governed by the ITBPF Act and Rules. Last date for receipt of
applications is 20th August 2010 (20/08/2010) for all States except for North
Eastern States, Ladakh Division of Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul & Spiti and Pangi
Sub-Division of Chamba Distt. of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands
and Lakshadweep for which last date is 27th August 2010 (27/08/2010).

PAY SCALE AND OTHER ALLOWANCES
a) Pay Scale: Rs.9300–34800 + Grade Pay Rs.4200/- per month.
b) Other allowances: The posts will carry Dearness Allowance, Ration
Money, Washing Allowance as admissible from time to time, Special
Compensatory Allowance while posted in specified border areas, free
uniform, free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Free
leave pass, free medical facilities and any other allowance as
admissible in the Force from time to time under the rules/instructions.
They will be covered under new restructured defined contributory
pension scheme.

3. A candidate appearing for the test should mention/intimate if any criminal

case(s) is/are pending/lodged against him in any police station/Hon’ble Court.

5. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
(I) Age: Between 20 to 25 years (Cut off date for determining the age
will be 20
nd August 2010)
Note

(a) Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST by 5 years and for OBC
by 3 years.
(b) The upper age limit shall be relaxed by the length of military
service increased by 3 years in case of Ex-servicemen.
(c) Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for Departmental
candidates and in addition 5 years age relaxation for Scheduled
Caste or Scheduled Tribe and 3 years for Other Backward
Classes.
(d) Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in case of the children
and dependent family members of those killed in 1984 riots and
riots of 2002 in Gujarat. SC/ST/OBC relexation as per Govt.
instructions will be in addition. Children and dependent family
members should produce a Certificate to that effect from the
Collector of the concerned District where the victim was killed.
(e) Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in case of all persons
who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu &
Kashmir during the period from 1st day of January 1980 to the
31st day of December 1989.
(f) Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for Govt. servant in
accordance with the instructions or orders issued by the Central
Govt. Persons serving in Govt./semi Govt. department may
send their applications through proper channel alongwith “No
Objection Certificate
” as per format in Annexure-I.
(II) Educational and Professional qualifications
Matric or equivalent with Diploma in Civil Engineering from an
Institute recognized by the Central Government.

7. MEDICAL STANDARDS
(i) Eye Sight: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 in one eye
(Master Eye) and 6/9 in other eye without correction
i.e. without
wearing of glasses.
(ii) The candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot, varicose vein
or squint in eyes
and they should possess high colour vision. They
must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical
defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

8.
HOW TO APPLY AND BY WHICH DATE
Eligible and interested candidates should send their Applications (duly filled
in Hindi or English only) complete in all respects and Candidate’s Admit
Card duly filled in, in the prescribed proforma as per Annexure ‘I’ and
Annexure ‘II’
either by type written or neatly hand written on one side only
on full size plain paper with passport size photographs affixed on
application/admit card (duly attested by Gazetted Officer) along with
application fee, enclosures as in para-10 to the DY. INSPECTOR
GENERAL & CHIEF ENGINEER, DIRECTORATE GENERAL, ITB
POLICE, BLOCK NO. 2, CGO COMPLEX, LODHI ROAD, NEW
DELHI-110003, on or before the prescribed last date i.e. 20th August 2010
for all States except for Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, and Ladakh Division of Jammu &
Kashmir State, Lahaul-Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba
District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and
Lakshadweep for which last date is 27th August 2010.

9.
APPLICATION FEE
Application Fee will be Rs. 50/- for candidates belonging to OBC category
only and no fee will be charged from SC/ST. The candidates should attach
the Indian Postal Order or Crossed Bank Draft drawn in the name of
ACCOUNTS OFFICER, DIRECTORATE GENERAL, ITB POLICE,
NEW DELHI alongwith their application. SC/ST candidates are exempted
from application fee.

10.
ENCLOSURES REQUIRED TO BE ATTACHED WITH
APPLICATION

Following be attached with the application form:-
a) Attested photocopies of education/professional qualification
certificate.
a) Two latest passport size photographs. (One pasted on application
form and another on admit card duly attested by a Gazetted Officer).
b) IPO/Bank Draft of Rs.50/- (for OBC candidates only).
c) Two self addressed envelopes of 4”x 9” size with Rs. 5/- postage
stamps affixed on each envelope.
d) Envelope containing Application must be superscribed in bold letters
“APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SUB-INSPECTOR

(OVERSEER) IN ITBP”.

11. DOCUMENTS/CERTIFICATE REQUIRED TO BE BROUGHT AT
THE TIME OF RECRUITMENT TEST

Original certificate alongwith attested copies of following:-
(i) Educational Certificate.
(ii) Date of birth certificate (Matriculation or 10th Class certificate or
certificate issued by National Open School /National Institute of Open
School as proof of date of birth).
(iii) Professional/Experience Certificate, if any.
(iv) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC Certificate as per Annexure-
III
(if belonging to any of these categories) issued by an authority not
lower than Tehsildar or SDM (Note: - OBC certificate must be in
prescribed proforma as attached at Annexure –‘IV’).
(v) Domicile Certificate issued by local revenue authorities for
verification of citizenship/for claiming relaxation in height and chest.

12.
SELECTION PROCESS
The eligible candidates shall be issued Admit cards to appear in recruitment
test. The date and place of recruitment test will be indicated in Admit card.
Candidates will have to undergo the following tests:-
a) Checking of Documents
The candidate will be required to produce the original and attested
photocopies of the documents related to his Education Qualification,
Date of Birth etc. as mentioned in para 11 above. The original
documents will be returned to the candidate on the spot after
verification.
b) Physical Measurement
Candidates who are found eligible on scrutiny of documents will be
screened first for Height, Chest and Weight measurements.
c) Physical Efficiency Test (P.E.T)
The candidates who are found fit in Physical Measurements will be
required to qualify Physical Efficiency Test (PET) consisting of
following events:-

1.6 kms. To be completed in 6.5 minutes
Long Jump
3.65 meters In 3 chances
High Jump
1.2 meters In 3 chances
Shot Put
4.5 meters In 3 chances
Note
: PET will be of qualifying nature and those who do not qualify
the above tests will get eliminated from the process there only and
will not be allowed to appear in the Written Test.
(d) Written Test
Written Test (Total 100 Marks) about Professional Knowledge (80
marks
) and General Awareness (20 marks) will be conducted.
Answers must be given only in Hindi or English.
(e) Qualifying Marks: For SC/ST/OBC candidates, 33% marks.
(f) Interview
Interview (20 Marks) will be conducted to check personal bearing,
response, aptitude and general level of intelligence etc.
(g) Detailed Medical Examination
Candidates selected in order of merit after interview will be put
through a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness.
(h) Appeal against Detailed Medical Examination
i) A candidate declared unfit in Detail Medical Examination, if not
satisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, can submit an
appeal for his re-medical examination with a Medical Fitness
Certificate as per Annexure-“VI”, as a piece of evidence about
the possibility of an error of judgment in the decision of the
Medical Officer. The Medical certificate will not be taken into
consideration unless it contains a note by the medical practitioner
concerned to the effect that it has been given in full knowledge of
the fact that the candidate has already been rejected as unfit for
appointment by a Medical Officer. The appeal will also not be
taken into consideration unless it contains Medical Reexamination
fee of Rs. 25/- through Indian Postal Order or
Demand Draft in the name of Commandant, Base Hospital, ITBP,
New Delhi and rejection slip (in original) issued by the Presiding
Officer. The appeal should be submitted within 30 days from the
date of issue of the Rejection Slip (in which the finding of the
Medical Officer is communicated to the candidate) to the authority
to whom the application was initially submitted. The appeals
received after the prescribed 30 days, without relevant documents
will not be entertained. ITBP will not be responsible for any kind
of postal delay, etc.
ii) The decision of the review medical board of ITBP shall be final
and no second appeal will be entertained as per Govt. instructions
and also no reply of the correspondence/second appeal will be
given/entertained.

13. All eligible candidates will be duly informed about the date and venue of

the recruitment tests through admit card. Candidates should come duly
prepared for 6-7 days stay under their own arrangements at the Recruitment
Centre. The Government shall not be responsible for damage/injury, if any,
to the individual sustained during the Physical Efficiency Test. No TA/DA
will be admissible
. Incomplete application will be summarily rejected
and no correspondence on this will be entertained. No application after

the last date as mentioned above will be accepted.
