Image segmentation is one of the most important and fundamental tasks in image processing. In case of automatic inspection or target recognition we need a better segmentation result with lesser time for real-time application. In this work we had considered two class images i.e. Background and object and we had considered images having bimodal gray level distribution histogram. We proposed a new correlation based threshold for object and background classification and validated our results with the well known existing methods like Otsu’s approach and Calvard’s approach.
