    In these systems, searching process consist of, for a given query image, finding the most similar images stored in the database. The searching process relies on the use of image descriptors. A descriptor can be characterized by two functions : Feature vector extraction and similarity computation. The feature vector encodes image properties, like color, texture and shape. Then selection of the initial image set employs Genetic Programming to discover a combination of descriptors that better characterizes the user perception of image similarity.
