Description
GENERAL SUMMARY: The job involves root cause analysis of defects on Linux, spanning across installers, applications, system programs, drivers, and kernel. The job also involves evaluation of Linux Updates and specific emerging technologies on Dell Enterprise Servers. The job provides opportunities to work on emerging enterprise technogies in the areas of Storage, Networking and Systems Management. The job also provides opportunities for working closely with the Open Source community. The candidate should have at least 3-5 years of experience in System Programming in Unix/Linux Domains. Experience in Device Drivers and/or kernel is desirable. Knowledge of Linux Internals, x86 architecture, open source will be a plus.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to enablement of Linux on Dell hardware by resolving OS issues
Contribute to OS Technology Validation and Certification on Enterprise servers
Contribute to OS technology enablement and evaluation for Dell servers, Storage, Networking and Systems Management.
Keep abreast of technology developments in Open Source.

Qualifications
PROFILE OF CANDIDATES:
Required
Excellent programming skills in C including System Programming on Unix/Linux
Sound knowledge of Linux Internals
OS, networking, computer architecture, storage and filesystems concepts.
Good analytical/troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech or equivalent in E&C/CS/IS.

Desirable
Driver/Kernel experience
Participation in Linux / Open Source community (mailing lists, projects, etc)
Background in computer hardware, especially x86 architecture.
