TNPSC Combined Engineering Service Examination Notification 2010
TAMIL NADU PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
NOTIFICATION / ADVERTISEMENT

Applications are invited upto 5.45 p.m on 13-08-2010 for direct recruitment to the following posts included in the Combined Engineering Service Examination (Service Code No. 011):-
* Assistant Engineer (Civil) : 185 posts PWD in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Service.
* Assistant Engineer (Civil) : 29 posts PWD in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Service.
* Assistant Engineer (Electrical) : 14 posts in PWD in the Tamil Nadu Engineering Service.
* Assistant Engineer : 255 posts in Tamil Nadu Panchayat Development Service.
* Assistant Engineer (Civil) : 171 posts in the Tamil Nadu Highways Engineering Service.
* Assistant Inspector of Factories : 06 posts in the Tamil Nadu Factories Service.
* Junior Electrical Inspector : 01 post in Tamil Nadu Electrical Inspectorate Service.
AGE (as on 01.07.2010) : - Should not have completed 30 years (Common for all the posts)
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION :
Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification on the date of this Notification, viz. 14-07-2010 :
1,2)Assistant Engineer (Civil) :
B.E. degree in Civil Engineering or Civil and Structural Engineering of any University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grants.
OR
A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering branch, subject to the following further conditions namely : -
(i) Should furnish evidence of having undergone practical training in surveying for a period of not less than one year. or
(ii) Should have put in service for a period of not less than one year in Public Works Department as Overseer or Junior Engineer. or
(iii) Should hold the Upper Subordinate or L.C.E. Diploma of the College of Engineering, Guindy or L.C.E. Diploma awarded by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Chennai.
3)Assistant Engineer (Electrical) in PWD :
A degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering;
OR
A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examination with Electrical Engineering as a subject.
4) Assistant Engineer in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.
A B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering of any University or Institution recognised by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant.
OR
A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution of Engineers (India) under Civil Engineering Branch, subject to the condition that he/she should furnish evidence of having undergone practical training in surveying for a period of not less than one year.
5) Assistant Engineer (Civil) in Highways Department
A degree in Civil Engineering of any University or Institution recognised by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grants;
OR
A pass in Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations under Civil Engineering Branch.
6) Assistant Inspector of Factories
A Degree in Mechanical or Production or Industrial or Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Textile Technology of any University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant.
7) Junior Electrical Inspector
A degree in Electrical Engineering of any University or Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission for the purpose of its grant.
SCHEME OF WRITTEN EXAMINATION AND ORAL TEST :
Note : (i) The existing syllabi for the above subjects under Paper-I & Paper-II have been clubbed together and constituted as a Single syllabus. A single question paper in the said syllabus set in English is to be answered by the candidates.
(ii) Candidate should specify in Col.22 viz. Optional Subject 1 of their application forms the subject in which they wish to answer. They should choose only the subject in which they have obtained the qualification. The candidates who possess a degree in Production Engineering and Industrial Engineering should choose Mechanical and Production Engineering , the candidates who possess a degree in Textile Technology should choose Textile Engineering as an optional subject.
(iii) The subject paper Civil Engineering will consist of questions in Civil and Structural Engineering.
(iv) The syllabi have been published in the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Bulletin dated 16.05.2001

EXERCISING OF OPTIONS : - Candidates who opt for more than one post with the same qualification should specify in column 24 of the OMR application form the code numbers of the posts in the order of preference as to the posts to which he/she wishes to be selected.
PROCEDURE OF SELECTION : - Selection will be made in two successive stages i.e., (i) Written Examination and (ii) Oral Test in the shape of an interview. (For further details please refer paragraph 22(b) of the „Instructions, etc. to candidates?).
EXAMINATION FEE : - Rs.125/- (Rupees One Hundred and twenty five only) Examination fees should be paid only through any one of the post offices listed in Annexure III of Information Brochure.
Candidates (other than those who apply Online) should inform their OMR application Number to the Counter Clerk of the Post Office for obtaining the Postal Receipt.
HOW TO APPLY :
(A) Candidates are advised to verify the following aspects also before sending their filled in OMR applications to the Commission?s office :
(i) Signature by the candidate below the declaration in Ballpoint pen or fountain pen only. Failure to sign will entail rejection of his/her application.
(ii) Code Nos. of Posts should be specified in order of preference in column 24 and the of the OMR application and the Boxes thereunder shaded.
(iii) Columns 1, 1(a), 3, 4, 22 and 24 in the OMR application form filled up based on the details available in this Notification / Advertisement.
(iv) Certificates (as specified in para 11 above) are to be enclosed.
(v) Column 23 (a) (b) and (c) of the OMR application should also be filled up.
(B) Filled in applications must be sent to the Controller of Examinations, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, No.1, Greams Road, Commercial Tax Building Annexe, Chennai – 600 006 well in advance so as to reach the Commission’s Office before 5.45 p.m. on 13-08-2010.
