Job Summary :
As a QA Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for validating NetApp software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for NetApp product in a customer deployment. You will be a member of a software engineering team responsible for assessing quality of file system backup and recovery services using replication technology. You are expected to develop, modify, and execute software test plans; analyze and write test standards and procedures; maintain documentation of results; and work closely with development engineers in resolution of problems. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market.

Essential Functions :
** Working as part of a focused data protection engineering team (Enterprise Data Management).
** A major part of your responsibility will be to work as part of a team responsible for :
** Gathering test requirements
** Developing, implementing and executing test plans
** Developing Test Design and Test Strategy
** Developing and executing Test cases
** Developing Test Scripts/Automation to aid automated execution
** Work of Code Coverage
** Preparing Test reports
** Preparing Test summaries
** Reading and understanding software and/or hardware design specifications.
** Participating in design reviews and making recommendations for product improvements.
** Represent the team at X-functional meetings for status, actions
** Lead the investigation for QA planning for a release
** Working on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals
** Work with Development groups to identify and resolve problems. Perform functional, load, performance, scalability tests as required. Perform regression test and verify bugs fixes for maintenance releases.
** Communicate progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner
** Works on difficult problems of a broad scope
** Contributing to the development and improvement of processes and procedures
** Participation and contribution to technical communications within the team and with other groups associated with specified projects.
** Providing technical leadership, mentoring and development for more junior engineers

Job Requirements :
** Experience in software test planning, test design, test scripts and documentation
** A working knowledge of contemporary backup and recovery principles/techniques
** Experience in Snap Vault, Snap Mirror technologies
** Experience in working with DMAs
** Designing/executing test cases and creating test beds
** Proficiency in scripting using Perl or other scripting languages like TCL – Expect or Shell scripting) is must
** Must have worked with Virtualization products
** Experience in working on one or more of the 3 platforms – Windows, Solaris, Linux
** Good knowledge of networking, storage or system concepts
** Understanding and experience in product life cycle and development processes, good knowledge of test methodologies like black-white box, integration, system testing
** Familiarity with basic concepts of computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices
** Ability to participate in discussions with customers, partners and vendors
** Ability to participate in discussions with cross functional teams (engineering and non-engg)
** Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
** Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices
** Creative approach to complex problem solving and trouble shooting
** Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
** Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards
** Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment
** Good know ledge of FC protocol
** Experience in working with clustered/high-availability systems

Education & Experience :
** A minimum of 8 years of experience is required.
** A Bachelor of Engineering Degree Computer Science
** Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
