Job Summary :
As a QA Automation Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for building automated tests that would validate NetApp software products to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for NetApp products. You will be a member of a software engineering team responsible for assessing quality of file system backup and recovery services using replication technology. You are expected to develop, modify, and execute automation plans; analyze and write automation standards and procedures; maintain documentation of results; and work closely with other QA & development engineers in resolution of problems. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. This position requires an individual who is creative, team-oriented, technology savvy, willing to take a leadership role, takes initiative and is driven to produce results.

Essential Functions :
** Working as part of a focused data protection engineering team (Enterprise Data Management).
A major part of your responsibility will be to lead and participate as part of a team responsible for
** Gathering test requirements for automation
** Developing, implementing and executing automation plans & strategy
** Developing automation architecture and design
** Building automation libraries
** Developing and executing automated test cases
** Developing Test scripts
** Ability to review and provide input to software and/or hardware design, and / or functional and architectural specifications.
** Knowledge of test & automation architectures
** Experience with developing and working with automation frameworks.
** Knowledge of Root cause Analysis techniques
** Participate in technical communications within the team and with other groups associated with specified projects.
** Ability to communicate with and influence cross functional teams in Engg and non-Engg.
** Ability to drive initiatives and tasks across cross functional teams.
** Working on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals.
** Providing technical leadership, mentoring and development for junior engineers

Job Requirements :
** Subject Matter Expert in at least 1 technology area
** Experience in working and developing automation framework
** A working knowledge of contemporary backup and recovery principles/techniques
** Experience in SnapVault, SnapMirror technologies
** Proficiency in scripting using Perl, object oriented programming an advantage
** Ability to prioritize and optimize testing based on Project constraints.
** Ability to assess technical risks associated with test approaches and Test strategies.
** Experience in working on one or more of the 3 platforms – Windows, Solaris, Linux
** Good knowledge of networking, storage or system concepts
** In Depth knowledge of software development life cycle processes.
** Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices.
** Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation.
** Ability to come up with both short term and long term approaches towards solving complex problems.
** Ability to influence Product Roadmap
** Uses judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for successful results.
** Ability to develop longer-range project plans or schedules for individual, or work for a small team
** Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
** Creative approach to complex problem solving and trouble shooting
** Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
** Ability to work collaboratively within a team of other engineers and have strong influencing and leadership skills.

Education and Experience :
** A minimum of 8 years of experience is required.
** A Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science
** Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects.
