Job Summary : As a Senior Software Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for actively participating in driving product development and strategy. In addition, you will participate in activities that include testing and debugging of operating systems that run NetApp storage applications. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development.

Essential Functions :
- A major part of your responsibility will be to participate in any and/or all phases of the product development cycle from product definition and design, through implementation including :
- Designing
- Coding
- Testing
- Test automation
- Debugging
- Reliability
- Performance analysis
- Critical and/or high visibility customer support
- As part of a team, you will lead and participate in technical discussions within the immediate group and across functions, where evaluating and executing design and development plans for products are reviewed.
- You will have direct influence on the decisions and outcomes related to project direction.

Job Requirements : :
Technical - Must have
** More than 6 years of development experience
** Object Oriented (OOD, OOP) understanding
** More than 3 years of Java experience
** 3+ years experience with JDBC.
** 3+ years experience in application design and development methodologies, software development protocols, and client-server architectures.
** 2+ years Application server development experience (J2EE, EJB3)
** 2+ years experience in developing Multi-threaded applications
** Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
** Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and standard programming practices.
** Experience using a Version control system
** Experience in developing Multi-threaded applications
** Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
** Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and demonstrate strong influencing and leadership skills.
** Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation.
** Uses judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for successful results.
** Ability to perform work estimates & ensure timely delivery of excellent quality well documented work artifacts.

Technical - Nice to have :
** SAN and SCSI experience - for example working with storages like EMC, Clariion etc…
** Networking development experience specially in network management
** Experience with design tools & UML notation is a plus.

Responsibility and Interaction :
** The tasks this individual is responsible for are often unstructured and the issues addressed are less defined requiring new perspectives and creative approaches.
** This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope requiring in-depth evaluation.
** Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.
** This individual must work effectively with employees within the function, across functions and with external parties.
Limited supervision and direction is provided, as this individual can operate, drive results and set priorities independently.
** The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.
** To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others.

Education and Experience :
** A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, a Master Degree, or a PhD; or equivalent experience is required.
** More than 9 years of development experience
** Object Oriented (OOD, OOP) understanding
** More than 3 years of Java experience
** 3+ years experience with JDBC.
** 3+ years experience in application design and development methodologies, software development protocols, and client-server architectures.
** 2+ years Application server development experience (J2EE, EJB3)
** 2+ years experience in developing Multi-threaded applications
** Working experience in large projects for at least 2 consecutive years.
** Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
** Experience and understanding of the Object Oriented programming concepts.
** Networking programming experience is preferred, specifically in communication and management protocols like TCP, RMI,
** Fibre Channel, NAS or iSCSI domain experience is a plus.
