Job Description:

* To manage the technical services team in the planning and design of the mine IN ORDER to ensure that the place of work operates within acceptable standards of risk and is conducive to the health and safety of the workforce.
* To manage the technical team to provide all operations with technical support (training and development of staff, checks and reviews, etc.) IN ORDER TO ensure that the mine is operating within optimum mine plan specifications.
* To identify and develop technical talent in conjunction with the Human Resources Department IN ORDER TO establish and maintain excellence within the technical services department.
* To optimize the plan (by addressing cost, equipment, manpower, mining method, infrastructure, etc) IN ORDER TO produce a competitive bid which exceeds client’s specifications.
* To train/induct Project Managers on the system through training IN ORDER TO ensure Project Managers are accountable for cost control and achieving results.
* To manage client relations in a cordial manner and negotiate as required IN ORDER TO secure current available work and future opportunities including extensions to existing projects.
* To source and establish the preferred international consultants for the Centre of Excellence as and when required IN ORDER TO make available international technical expertise for local bids.
* To provide technical source and expertise across the group as required IN ORDER TO make available shared resources for Leighton.

Desired Profile:

• Degree in Mining Engineering

• About 7 years experience in similar positions is preferred

• Exposure to open pit mining

• Exposure to contract mining

• Experience in mine management

• International working experience preferred
