Overview :
The Saudi Arabian Mining Company, Ma’aden is engaged in the development of two world scale projects in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the operation and expansion of its mining business in gold, base metals and industrial minerals. The next five years will see the company develop world scale mines and industrial facilities across the Kingdom representing the largest industrial diversification since the development of the Saudi petrochemical industry.

The first of the company’s mega projects mentioned above is the world’s largest integrated phosphate fertilizer project; mining the raw material at Al Jalamid in the Northern Province and transporting it to the new minerals industry complex at Ras Az Zawr for processing and export. The project, due for completion in 2010 will produce 2.92 million tons per year of DAP when at full capacity.

The second mega-project will be the largest, vertically integrated mine-to-metal operation of its type in the world and is a joint venture with Alcoa. Bauxite reserves will be mined at Al Ba’aitha in the Central Province and then transported also via the new Saudi Arabian Railway to Ras Az Zawr for refining and smelting. The project also includes the development of a rolling mill at Ras Az Zawr.

Ma’aden currently operates five gold mines in the Central and Western Provinces and plans to expand that number in the near future. It currently has over 10 million ounces of gold reserves including those in the Central Arabian Gold Region and extensive interests in exploration for precious and base metals and industrial minerals.

Ma’aden’s headquarters are in Riyadh and the company also has offices in Al-Khobar and Jubail in the Eastern Province and Jeddah on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.

Responsible and work with team as "Electrical Engineer" for the project

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the day to day activities required to take the electrical engineering function for the alumina refinery project through the design, construction and mobilization phase to an operating refinery. After refinery construction, he will assist with commissioning and transition into an Electrical Reliability Engineer or Principal Electrical Engineer in the Engineering Department within the refinery.

Responsibilities :
** Assist the Senior Electrical Engineer with the Electrical scope of the refinery as well as the associated technical and commercial challenges to reach the goals of the alumina refinery.

** Ensures the electrical engineering interface is managed between the Ma’aden project team and the Ma’aden owners team.

** Assures the successful inter relations of the refinery project with respect to the power, aluminium and infrastructure projects, managing the electrical interfaces as appropriate to ensure compatibility where required with those projects.

** Attends to the Electrical Engineering activities of the Engineering Consultants, and ensures the appropriate standards for design and construction are used to ensure the long term safe and efficient operation of the Refinery

** Makes sure that Engineering Consultants comply with relevant standards and ensures that HAZOP or similar studies are undertaken at appropriate stages in the development of the project and that risks identified are addressed in the engineering design. Participates in and contributes to these studies.

** Following up on the consultant deliverables to ensure timely submission of deliverables and quality of work.

** Guards and supports the development and implementation of Ma’aden standards across the Project for engineering design and equipment specification.

** Contributes to the Development of the operating plan(s) to achieve the Objectives of the financial model and provides management reports which details Project performance in terms of cost and schedule to highlight risks to the Project and plans to minimize their impact.

** Assists in development of plans for the purchase of power (and possibly other utilities) from external parties that will eventually lead to the proposal and negotiation of long term agreements for power, steam and water.

** Assists with the development of Operational Readiness Activities (particularly input into the Equipment Maintenance Plans) and incorporates reliability, maintainability and operability principles in the design.

Qualifications :
** Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering discipline.

** 6-8 years’ experience in operations/engineering, preferably with 3 years at an operating mineral refining operation or heavy industry plant.

** Excellent command of English language, both in understanding and the ability to speak clearly.
** Computer literacy; MS office and related packages.
** Leadership and decision-making skills.
** Adaptability and sensitivity to deal with multi cultural environment
