About The Team

The EdgeControl Management Center is Akamai’s Portal – it provides our customers, resellers, and internal staff visibility and control over Akamai services, networks and systems. Through the Portal our customers get a global picture of how the Akamai system and the Internet are behaving, can fine-tune their web properties, access information about their Internet services and interact with Akamai support team.

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, highly productive software engineer to help develop intuitive interfaces to provide customers access to our large portfolio of Internet content and application acceleration services. An ideal candidate will have strong database and web application programming experience, demonstrated problem solving abilities, good teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to design powerful yet customer-friendly user interfaces.

This team executes full lifecycle development of a multi-tier web application, from requirements analysis and system level design through implementation, deployment and ongoing support. We develop primarily in Java and Perl; the application utilizes relational databases and manages large customer data sets to provide reports and alerts. The team assists customer support staff in analyzing and solving customer issues related to provisioning and reporting when necessary.

Responsibilities: Create a superb user experience– focused on usability, performance, and robustness.
* Design new customer-oriented web applications. Help manage change to existing customer applications.
* End to end development and maintenance of J2EE based web applications.

Qualifications: Masters in Computer Science or Bachelors Degree in Engineering with at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
* Experience developing web applications using the following technologies:
- Java/J2EE (JSP, Servlets), SOAP for webservices. Spring /Struts
- Any relational database viz. Oracle/MySQL.
* Familiarity with Unix/Windows platforms & Apache/Tomcat is preferred.
* Working knowledge of Flex is an added advantage.
* Extensive experience in designing of Web Applications.
- Strong Object Oriented Design skills
- Data modeling expertise
- Good understanding of design patterns
