    Job Description
    Responsible for strategic supply base development to improve Tenneco's supply base, including driving quality and productivity improvements at existing suppliers, and deploying standardized supplier quality management systems.

    This position will partner with global commodity teams, Six Sigma black belts and master black belts, and operations managers at each Tenneco SBU and plants.

    [LIST][*]Implement the GSCM Supplier Development strategies, establishing policies / procedures and initiatives to help improve the global supply base.[*]Coordinate supplier development activities with commodity managers to help them achieve their goals and objectives.[*]Facilitate cross-functional launch team design / manufacturability supplier review meetings to assure form, fit and function of product / assembly design intent.[*]Train and support supplier compliance to APQP planning support and train suppliers in the use of supply web and Titan, a Tenneco-supplier communication system.[*]Support GSCM department goal of developing new identified suppliers, including minority Business Enterprises.[*]Support the implementation of Process Excellence programs to help key suppliers improve their processes and achieve productivity and quality performance goals using tools such as VA/VE, Six Sigma, Lean management practices, Best Practice technology, etc.[*]Present supplier development activities to management as and when required, including supplier performance reports.[*]Audit supplier's manufacturing capabilities, available capacity, manufacturing processes, and quality procedures, rate them accordingly.[*]Provide supplier technical assistance to commodity teams as and when required.[*]Participate in supplier market analysis for various commodities. Support global purchasing needs during supplier transitions and supplier rationalization program.[*]Support Tenneco plants and businesses on escalated supplier quality and supplier issues.[*]Facilitate and support timely implementation of permanent corrective actions and resolution.[*]Lead Supplier Performance initiative improving supplier performances: PPM and Delivery through monthly commodity team meetings, SIP and Monitored Shipping I and II implementation as required.[*]Stay abreast with new and emerging technologies and apply knowledge of international business climate and work ethics to help resource suppliers in global markets.[*]Enforce suppliers to compliance to tasupplier.[/LIST]
    Required Skills

    [LIST][*]Bachelor's degree in a related Business or Technical discipline.[*]Trained Six Sigma Green Belt a plus.[*]Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.[*]Demonstrated ability and skills to support supplier development activities, continuous improvement initiatives and quality management tools.[*]Demonstrated ability to champion change and execute strategies to meet goals.[*]Strong team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.[*]Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.[*]Ability to travel, as required. Estimated 40% - 50%.[*]Familiar with a range of materials and processes; e.g., steel, stamping, forging, machining, casting, cold heading, rubber, plastic, heat treating, etc.[*]Experience with supplier assessment and audits, TS and or ISO audit certification desired.[/LIST]

    Minimum 3 years experience in quality, preferably in automotive manufacturing.

    Joined M/s Highway Cycle Industries Ltd, Sahnewal as Engineer Trainee in Nov. 1997and after six months of training worked as Shift Incharge (Production) in Machine Shop. The job responsibilities included Development of new type of free wheels as per customer requirements and meeting Production Targets set by Top Management. At the same time, worked with GNS consultants from Madras for reducing the cost of production. The responsibility during the job was to develop new scaffolding components as per customer requirements at vendor end and help the vendors for procurement of raw material of required specifications. The responsibility also included to introduce new suppliers and develop their systems as per customer requirements.
    December 2005 to April 2008 :
    Joined M/s Highway Industries Ltd. as Asstt. Manager (Quality Systems) in March 2005 & worked on the same post till April 2007. The responsibilities include implementing the systems as per TS 16949 standards. Being DOL suppliers of M/s Hero Honda Motors Pvt. Ltd., the responsibility of maintaining the systems as per customer requirements was also the part of duty. To conduct the Internal Audits as per TS and DOL requirements was also the part of job. The Job responsibility also included coordinating with the customer and certification bodies for External Audits. The job profile included implementation 5s &TPM in the organization. Since the company was going for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001certificaion, hence responsibility for documentation & maintenance of the systems accordingly was also part of duty.
