The universal modulator will be designed around the CORDIC algorithms which can generate all most all digital modulation schemes such as ASK,PSK,FSK
CORDIC is an iterative for calculating trigonometric functions including sine, cosine, magnitude and phase. It is particularly suited to hardware implementations.
The word “CORDIC” means “Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer. It calculates the trigonometric functions of sine, cosine, magnitude and phase to any desired precision.
Hyper Terminal is an application you can use in order to connect your computer to other remote systems. Here we connect to LPC2148 for displaying control word on screen.
Communication with the user of the computer on the other side of the remote connection is made possible through the scroll feature of Hyper Terminal. This is a feature that allows you to receive and view texts on the screen..
So depending on the control word format given by the user the mode of operation is decided and accordingly respective output is generated.
The LPC2148 microcontrollers are based on 32 bit ARM7TDMI-S CPU with real-time, that combines the microcontroller with embedded high speed flash memory of 512kB
LPC2148 having 512kB flash memory. This memory may be used for both code and data storage. The c code of CORDIC algorithm is written and compiled using GNUARM compiler and the compiled hex file is dumped into the flash memory of LPC2148.
So depending on the process command of code the PINSEL registers, PLL configuration registers, UART &TIMERS are initialized in the ARM processor.
When a control word command is entered at the input of hyper terminal the respective output is generated in the digital format, so to realize the analog output DAC peripheral is used. This DAC register includes the digital value to be converted to analog. The output of DAC is connected to CRO through which the output waveforms can be seen
