Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for filling up the following posts in State Units and Headquaters
of National Informatics Centre (NIC).
LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS : 30 (Thirty) days from the date of publication of this
advertisement in the Employment News. (In respect of applications received only by post from the
candidates residing in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim,
Ladhak Division of Jammu & Kashimr, Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of
Himachal Pradesh, the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshdweep, the last date of
receipt of applications is 45 days from the publication of the advertisement in the Employment News.)
I. POST & SCALE OF PAY : Stenographer Grade-III (English) in the Scale of pay of Rs.5200-20200
(PB-1) with Grade Pay of Rs.2400/- with usual allowances like DA, Transport Allowance, HRA etc., as per
Government of India orders from time to time.
No. of Vacancies : Total : 03 (Three) ( UR: 2, OBC : 1)
Essential Qualification:
Matriculation or equivalent from Government recognized Board.
and
Possessing speed of shorthand @ 100/80 w.p.m. in English.
Desirable : Graduate with knowledge of Computer Operation.
Age Limit: Between 18 and 27 years as on the last date of receipt of application. Relaxation in age would
be admissible as per Central Government Rules.
The Scheme of examination shall consist of three parts as follows:
Part - I : Written Test - 300 (Marks ) - Duration 2 hrs.
A. General English : In addition to the testing of candidate’s understanding of the English language and
its correct usage, their writing ability would also be tested. Questions on paragraph/writing, report
writing/letter writing etc. may be included.
B. General Awareness : Questions will be designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the
environment around them and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge
of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects
as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its
neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture and Geography, economic scene,
General polity, Indian Constitution and scientific research, etc.
Part- II : Skill Test (Shorthand Speed Test) - (100 Marks) - Duration 10 minutes :
The candidates who qualify the written examination will have to undergo a Shorthand Speed test.
The Shorthand test will be in English only.
Part-III : Personality Test (Personal Interview) - (100 Marks)
II. POST & SCALE OF PAY : Lower Division Clerk in the Scale of Pay of Rs.5200-20200 (PB-1) with
Grade Pay of Rs.1900/- with usual allowances like DA, Transport Allowance, HRA etc., as per Government
of India orders from time to time.
No. of Vacancies : Total : 09 (Nine) ( UR: 6, SC : 2, OBC : 1)
Horizontal Reservation: One vacancy reserved for Visually Handicapped

Essential Qualification:
Matriculation or equivalent from Government recognized Board.
and
A typing speed of 30 w.p.m in English or 25 w.p.m in Hindi on manual typewriter
or
A typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on computer.
Those who opt for speed test on typewriter may bring their own typewriter for the test. The typewriting
test will consist of one paper of running matter of 10 minutes duration.
Desirable : Graduate with knowledge of Computer Operation.

admissible as per Central Government Rules.
How to Apply : Candidates who fulfill the prescribed criteria may send their application by post in the
prescribed format addressed to the Deputy Director (Personnel), National Informatics Centre,
A-Block, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003 so as to reach within 30 days from the date of
publication of the advertisement which would also be the crucial date for determining the age limit. The
envelope should be superscribed “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF STENOGRAPHER GRADE-III / LOWER
DIVISION CLERK”. Persons working under the Central Government/State Government/Public Sector
Undertaking should submit their applications through proper channel. They may however, send advance
copy of the application. For detail information please see instruction given below.
Examination Centre : Examination will be held at Delhi only.
Recruitment for the post of Stenographer Grade-III (English) in the Scale of Pay of Rs. 5200-20200 (PB-1) with Grade Pay of Rs. 2400 and Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the Scale of Pay of Rs. 5200-20200 (PB-1) with Grade Pay of Rs. 1900.
