Brief Summary of Findings :
Hazard Zonation Map in Uttarkashi District Using RS and GIS Techniques : Remote sensing and GIS techniques play a significant role in landslide zonation mapping. Landslide identification, which is a crucial parameter for any regional landslide hazard assessment, can be very well done particularly with aerial photographs. Coupled with aerial photos, GIS is an excellent tool to display the spatial distribution of landslides along with their attributes. Landslide hazard zonation mapping was attempted for the Uttarkashi district using the different technology in which Georeferencing, Supervised and Unsupervised Classification, Digitization and Map Composition in ERDAS and Arc view Software. By the study evident from the landslide hazard map that a large area in Uttarkashi region in falling under (6.0-6.5) of seismic zone. Further the area is mapped into three categories which is (i) Landslide Prone Areas (ii) (Sh, Wh. Fm) (iii) (Svh, Wm, Fml).the three zones divided in different areas which is 53.34km2, 18.76km2 and 13.43km2 respectively.
Forest-Type Map of Dehradun Using RS and GIS Techniques : It is my additional work from Doon University in which The study culminated forest type map in part of the district on 1:50.000 scale. The study demonstrated effective role of the spatial technologies viz. Remote Sensing and GIS in mapping forest type .the study showed that synergistic use of remote sensing physically data facilitates in mapping of the forest types. The detailed inventory of trees, shrubs and herbs in each forest type and their information were gathered. The forest-type map show the cover area and in other side the non-forest area is spreading into urbanization and cultivated area, decrease the forest cover area so it is necessary that we should take to action for conserved and protect of the forest areas for its sustainable utilization. The forest- type map given the idea that nearly 34.07% area take under the forest whereas a large area 64.7% of area under non-forest area

Title : Study on Ecological parameters and Landslide Hazard Zonation Mapping using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques. A Case Study of Danda, Rajpur (Dehradun).
Objectives : 1. To delineate a landslide zonation map using remote sensing and GIS.
2. To develop a spatial database for landslide analysis and provide a decision support tool for hazard managers and planners.
3. To study the change detection analysis of study area between 20 years and quantify the causes of landslides by natural and other activities.
4. To study the ecological changes to Vegetation and Soil due to landslides.
(iii) Brief Summary of Findings : In the study, simple conventional method of subjective weighting has been applied for Landslide Susceptibility Mapping in Danda, Rajpur, Dehradun region of Garhwal. Probability analysis was carried out for verifying the LS map.Landslide susceptibility Map prepared indicates that most of the slopes in the area fall under High to Moderate Susceptibility category. A large part of the land is found under built up land activities which indeed are further susceptible to sliding. Landslide susceptibility Hazard Analysis Using GIS, at Danda, Rajpur, showed that the scrub and barren land indicated in the LS map falls under the Very high susceptible category which has been verified in the field also. Satellite data such as Landsat TM and Quikbird are good source to provide information accurately. Under utilization of potential land, increased population, and land conversion are the major driving forces for the change in land use during the past 20 years. The Change Detection analysis revealed the settlement area has increased which is dangerous for future because the active landslide is highly vulnerable and could devastate settlement nearby of course the vegetation loss in the nearby open forest that area depleting faster due to increased built up area in the recent past. Study based on the experimental data on the vegetation and soil properties of area disturbed by landslide reveals that the top and bottom of the landslide is having significantly lower concentrations of nutrients compared to the control site. Higher clay content in control site than in the landslide indicates that control site has substantially recovered in time as this site also contains high content of the all soil nutrient except phosphorus. The soil moisture was lower in the landslide compared to control site, whereas bulk density was higher in the control site. Nonetheless, in the recovery process the soil organic carbon gradually increased. In the landslide area the soil was alkaline. In general, bacterial and fungal populations were lower in the landslide and the highest population was recorded in control site. Plant species Lantana camara and Pureria tuberose were dominant in the site. Generally, tree species were rare; however, Malotus pillippensis was the only tree found growing in the landslide area.

To avoid the collision between the work piece and the torch, torch head height control equipment is suggested for the installation on the present existing plasma cutting machine. This avoids the huge breakage loss of the torch head in terms of price as well as time.
Maintenance suggestions like replacing consumables, avoiding external agents during cutting processes were suggested.
Comparison of Plasma cutting process with other processes was clearly made.
Finally it was also suggested to Hindustan Shipyard to go for latest Plasma cutting machines like Robotic Plasmas which drastically increases the efficiency of the ship building.
The Hindustan Shipyard company was convinced with our suggestions, appreciated and purchased Robotic Plasma machine, which is now installed.
