This position leads the mechanical design team responsible for performing detailed design, analysis and testing of Nimble’s wireless products such as CDMA/WCDMA mobile handsets, Modems/Modules, WiFi/WiMax terminals and accessories. Quickly assimilates and refines existing mechanical designs, applies design integration and problem solving skills in the lab, works closely with electrical and electromagnetic engineers, maintains designs under revision control, and actively contributes toward the design/development of Nimble’s products.

REQUIREMENTS :

Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years experience with a solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles. Excellent understanding of design and testing philosophies and methods as applied to the product design and development cycle (right from Industrial design concepts, detailed CAD design, interaction with tooling vendors and taking the product to high volume production) is a must. 2D/3D CAD experience on Pro/E, AutoCAD a must. Thorough understanding of engineering and design documentation and revision control requirements of mechanical engineering and injection mould and other plastic/metal part development. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work within a cross-functional team environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components (plastic/metal) using statistical analysis and FMEA/DOE principles. Leads mechanical engineering project teams in the selection and qualification of plastics, connectors, and die-cuts suppliers. Interacts with plastic suppliers, tooling vendors, internal/external design teams, and Nimble’s manufacturing partners to facilitate component design that meets quality standards, product compliance to specifications and supplier delivery performance at the lowest cost. Provides support to project managers in the selection and qualification of mechanical components used in wireless phone platform design, alternate sourcing and sustaining production. Provides technical leadership on mechanical engineering aspects for all of Nimble’s projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
