Title : In-silico Molecular docking and Mutational studies of Biosurfactant proteins:
DESCRIPTION :
Surfactant protein (SP) A and SP-D are collagenous glycoproteins secreted by alveolar type II and Clara cells with multiple functions in lung. Both of these proteins are calcium-dependent lectins and are structurally similar to mannose binding protein (MBP).which plays an important role in host - defense mechanism and control surface tension of Epithelial cells of lungs.These proteins contain carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) plays an important role in binding with carbohydrates, which are present on the surface micro organisms and there by function as opsonins. Exogenous surfactant therapy can improve pulmonary function in surfactant deficiency or dysfunctional state (Eg : exosurf, surfactant) but they known for lot of side effects. The main aim of our present studies is to investigate the interactions between surfactant protein A and D with simple and complex carbohydrates, lipid ligands and selected microbes by docking methods 2) To study the significance of mutants by site directed mutagenesis 3) To study the significance of mutations by docking method 2) between simple and complex polysaccharides 3) To study the critical role of amino acid residues present in the active site of surfactant proteins
