THE INDIAN NAVY
BECOME A PERMANENT COMMISSIONED OFFICER
IN LOGISTICS CADRE OF EXECUTIVE BRANCH
COURSE COMMENCING - JAN 2011

Applications are invited from unmarried Male candidates for grant of Permanent Commission (PC) in the Logistics Cadre of Executive Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Jan 2011 at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates to fulfil condition of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS :
Age : 19½ to 25 years (i.e. born between 02 Jan 1986 and 01 Jul 1991; both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification : A First Class Degree with minimum 60% marks for the following:
(a) PC Logistics Cadre - JAN 11 Course. Candidates with following qualifications may apply :-
(i) B Com/M Com
(ii) BA (Economics)
(iii) MBA
(iv) BBA
(v) BBM
(vi) MCA
(vii) BCA
(viii) BSc(IT)
(ix) B Tech/BE (any discipline except B Architechure/ Civil Engineering)
(x) Graduate Degree with Post Graduate Diploma / Degree in Materials Management
(xi) ICWA
(xii) Chartered Accountancy.
(b) Works - JAN 11 Course. Candidates with following qualifications may apply :-
(i) B Tech Civil Engineering
(ii) B Architecture
Note : Candidates who have not completed their Degree (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS :
(a) Height and Weight. Minimum height 157 cms with correlated weight.
(b) Eye Sight. 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses and should not be colour/night blind.

SELECTION PROCEDURE :
(i) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Degree Course. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence(Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore /Bhopal/ Coimbatore during Aug to Dec 2010.

(ii) Stage I test consisting of Intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test will be conducted on the second day of arrival at SSB. Candidate who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprising of Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview will last for 04 days. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

(iii) Candidates recomended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

(iv) Change of SSB venue for interview is not permissible.

(v) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the concerned SSB on receipt of call up letter and copy endorsed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (OI&R), Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhawan, IHQ-MoD(N), New Delhi-110011. Award of fresh dates for SSB would be subject to availability.

(vi) No compensation will be paid in respect of injury sustained as a result of tests.

(vi) Return 2nd Class Sleeper rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for the entry.

TRAINING :
Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant in Jan 2011 and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/Units/Ships. Full Pay and allowances are admissible to the Officers whilst undergoing training.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS :
Selected Candidates will be on a probation for 02 yrs from the date of reporting to the Indian Naval Academy or the date of commencement of training whichever is later. Any candidate found married or who marries while undergoing training will be discharged. He shall be liable to refund full pay & allowances drawn by him and any other expenditure incurred on him by the Govt.

DUTIES OF LOGISTICS OFFICER :
Logistics Officer deals with the Logistics aspects of Men & Material. The Logistics Officer plays a vital role in the human aspect of the ship’s organisation. A modern warship irrespective of its role needs a continuous supply of fresh provisions, fuel and spares for the vast array of sophisticated equipment and machinery. You as a Logistics Officer will be responsible for smooth supply of stores. In no other career does an officer get exposed to such a wide spectrum of opportunities to keep abreast of modern and latest development in the field of management & finance. "Officers with Works Specialisation would get a wide exposure in Civil Woks and Infrastructure related appointments during the span of their career."
