2.T.E. Seminar conducted on ‘X-window System’
Abstract
Everyone like pretty pictures.Television long ago replaced the radio as standard home entertainment and the fact that you cannot judge a book by its cover doesn’t prevent the vast majority of human population from doing so. The same applies to computers now .The GUI or ‘windows functionality’ has become part of the machine that everyone now takes for granted.
What is X- X is not a GUI…so then what exactally is X if not a GUI- X is an infrastructure that a GUI uses to do its stuff…
This seminar tells all about X,what is X..How…some security aspects, and many other things about X.
Topics that will be covered :
- Introduction to X window system
- X in the real world
- Xdm n detail
- X through the internet
- Dynamic duo :X and VNC
- Dynamic trio :X,VNC,SSH
- X and security
3. B.E. Project – Location based spatial query processing in wireless broadcast environment
Abstract :
Location-based spatial queries (LBSQs) refer to spatial queries whose answers rely on the location of the inquirer. Efficientprocessing of LBSQs is of critical importance with the ever-increasing deployment and use of mobile technologies. We show that LBSQs have certain unique characteristics that the traditional spatial query processing in centralized databases does not address. For example, a significant challenge is presented by wireless broadcasting environments, which have excellent scalability but often exhibit high-latency database access. In this paper, we present a novel query processing technique that, though maintaining high scalability and accuracy, manages to reduce the latency considerably in answering LBSQs. Our approach is based on peer-to-peer sharing ,which enables us to process queries without delay at a mobile host by using query results cached in its neighboring mobile peers. We demonstrate the feasibility of our approach through a probabilistic analysis, and we illustrate the appeal of our technique through extensive simulation results.
Academics
1. Successfully developed “Online C Test” using Visual Basic 6.0 and Oracle (SQL).
2. T.E. Semester-2 Seminar conducted on ‘X-window System’.
