WALK – IN INTERVIEW
The National Centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), an Autonomous Society under the Minitry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, is the nodal agency responsible for planning, co-ordinating and executing Scientific cruises onboard ORV Sagar Kanya. In connection with this, it is proposed to have Shipboard Assistants as part of implementation of cruises onboard Sagar Kanya. The posts are purely temporary and on contract mode. Candidates fulfilling the prescribed eligibility conditions are invited to attend a walk-in interview at NCAOR on 22/3/2010.

Qualification & Experience : B.Sc. in any branch of Science or Diploma in Engineering
Essential : Holding valid Passport
Desirable : Experience in sailing on board ship preferably research ships.
Nature of Responsibilities
The nature of job is sailing on board NCAOR ship Sagar Kanya and to attend following duties:-
Daily logging of activities on vessel / communications with vessel management cell / Monitoring maintenance works onboard / Proper upkeep of general vessel utilities / spares and other consumables / inventory / Collection of onboard data and assistance to the scientists / Maintenance of records onboard for all the above / Vessel management activities ashore at NCAOR / Any other jobs as assigned.
Registration will start from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. on 22/3/2010. Candidates reporting after registration time will NOT be allowed to attend interview. Interview will start from 11:00 a.m. onwards and may continue to next day depending on the number of candidates reporting.
Consolidate Emoluments : Rs. 12,000/- p.m. + ship allowance of Rs. 100/- per day during the stay onboard.
Age limits: Should not exceed 30 years as on the date of interview. Age relaxation to the employees of GOI and SC/ST/OBC as per GOI norms.
Reservation: As per GOI norms. However being a temporary and contractual mode position, if such suitable candidate is not available, the same will be treated as unreserved.
Tenure: The posts are purely temporary basis. The assignment is initially for period of one year, which may be curtailed/extended depending on performance of candidate and requirement.
N.B:-
1. The date of Walk-in interview is on 22/3/2010 and is the cut-off date for all the purposes.
2. Director, NCAOR has the right to relax the eligibility criteria of the candidates of exceptional track record and experience matching to the requirement and also to cancel the requirement process at any stage, without asssigning any reason thereof.
3. The person engaged will not be treated on par with regular employees of NCAOR and shall have no right to claim implicit or explicit for their absorption or regularization in NCAOR.
4. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
All candidates are required to bring the original documents related to educational qualifications, date of birth, Passport, work experience, caste certificate etc. Duly attested copies of all the documents must be submitted with the Bio-data. One self attested recent passport size photograph should be pasted in the appropriate place in the bio-data. The original documents may be produced at the time of interview. Otherwise, candidate will not be allowed to attend the interview. The Bio-data should necessarily contain qualification, experience, passport and age details.
