SPECIAL RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR FILLING FACULTY POSITIONS UNDER RESERVED (SC, ST, OBC & PH) CATEGORIES

NIT, Rourkela invites applications from Indian nationals belonging to SC, ST, OBC (below creamy layer) and PH categories and possessing excellent academic background along with commitment to quality teaching and potential for carrying out relevant research for faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor.

Assistant ProfessorAssistant Professor
Max Age : 35
Pay Scale : PB-3 AGP-6000

Associate Professor
At least 6 years of teaching/research/industrial experience out of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
Max age : 40
Pay Scale : PB-4 AGP-9000

Professor
At least 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience, out of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor or equivalent.
Max Age : 50
Pay Scale : PB-4 AGP-10000

Note –
1. All Qualification, Experience and preferred age limit will be considered as on 30/06/2010.
2. Ph. D is compulsory for Science and Humanities subjects. However candidates expecting award of Ph. D degree within one year will also be considered for appointment as Asst. Professor on contract for one year or till award of Ph. D degree.
3. Exceptionally talented candidates with M. Tech degree will be considered only for appointment as Asst. Professor on contract for three years or till award of Ph. D degree.
4. The performance and progress of Asst. Professors on contract towards acquiring Ph. D degree will be monitored continuously and the appointment shall be terminated if progress is not found satisfactory at any stage.
5. The contract position will be regularized w.e.f date of joining on acquiring Ph. D degree.
6. Higher starting pay and/or AGP may be offered to deserving candidates on recommendation of the selection committee at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
7. Pay and allowances will be as applicable to Central Government employees at Rourkela.
8. Reservation will be as per Government of India rules.

The following provide some exceptions or clarifications to “appropriate branch”.
1. Computer science & Engineering: B. Tech in Computer Science followed by M. Tech/Ph. D., or B. Tech in Electronics/Electrical Engineering followed by M. Tech/Ph. D. in Computer Science. Candidates with other backgrounds and Ph. D in Computer science may be considered on the basis of the subjects studied, Ph. D. topic and post Ph. D. experience.
2. Electronics & Communication Engineering: Candidates having B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering will be eligible depending on the curriculum covered.
3. Humanities & Social Sciences: M.A./M. Sc in Economics, followed by Ph.D.
4. Biotechnology: Ph. D or M. Tech. in Biotechnology or in a related branch of engineering with B. Tech. in any branch of engineering. Candidates with M. sc. degree followed by M. tech. and Ph. D. in Biotechnology will be considered on the basis of subjects studied, M. tech. and Ph. D. research topics and post Ph. D. experience.
5. Medical Engineering: Ph. D. or M. Tech. with B. Tech in Biomedical, Engg., Electronics Engg., Electrical Engg. Mechanical Engg., Metallurgical Engg., Materials Engg.

Academic reimbursements and incentives:
1. Full funding for attending national conference either for presenting a paper or chairing session as per Institute guidelines.
2. Financial assistance up to Rs. 3.00 lakh in 3 years under faculty development programme.
3. Reimbursement of telephone charges up to Rs.500/- per month.
4. Reimbursement of relocation charges from within India to the faculty members at the time of their joining.

Accommodation:
Suitable residential accommodation as per rules subject to availability will be provided in the Campus of the Institute. HRA may be paid in lieu of residential accommodation.

Application forms complete in all respects along with Xerox copies of certificates (Attestation not required), list of publication, reprints/preprints of publication and a detailed research plan should reach the Office of the Registrar on or before 15th March, 2010 for consideration in the forthcoming round of selection process. Application received after this date may be considered in the forthcoming selection round or deferred to the next round depending on administrative convenience. Incomplete application forms will not be entertained. III. Candidates are required to send a self addressed stamped (Rs.5/-) envelope (9”X4” size) along with the application for sending acknowledgement. IV. Applications for faculty positions will be received any time during the year. Accumulated applications will be considered in the selection committee when it meets. Deserving candidates may be given short contract appointments depending on the need of the Institute and specialization of the candidate.
