ATM BOOTH SECURITY

Project Role: Following the terrorist attacks of 11th semptember 2001 and the ongoing war against terrorism , there has been a worldwide effort by governments to develop a biometric standard that “could be used to identify airline passengers ,control access to high security buildings and record financial transactions. Biometric technology, which uses chips to store biological information , such as face scans, iris pattern and fingerprints.“Terrorism , ID fraud and cyber crime are just a few of the reasons for investigating biometrics..
As technology advances and provides more specialized equipment, other means are becoming practical. In this project, we look at the potential of fingerprint recognition as a means of verifying a customer.
Projct Description: when a customer comes to the ATM, he opens the door and gets inside, he does not have to insert any card at the entrance. The ATM machine monitor then requests the customer to insert his ATM card, the system verifies the authenticity of the card.On the positive identification of the card,the customer is then asked to put his thumb on the fingerprint scanner. The system then records the fingerprint then opens the database to match it with the authorized fingerprints for the same card. If the verification is positive the customer is then asked to enter the password and customer is allowed to withdraw the required sum of money. If the verification is not positive then immediately the ATM card will be withheld by the machine and also the ATM door will be locked….
During that situations, unauthorized people will not be allowed to open the ATM door from the inside or outside. An authorized person from the bank or th police will be given a password . Once the correct password has been entered, the police can apprehend the criminal.
