Job Description:
Research and concept design for new/future products. Mechanical design of various components (in SolidWorks, for example). Building Prototypes, Test Fixtures, and other devices as necessary. Travel to rural UP, Karnataka, and other regions around India to test products in the field, and help respond to problems that may arise. Visiting our manufacturers to ensure quality, help with production design, and work to optimize costs. A history of tinkering; taking things apart to see how they work; and having a creative and intuitive approach to solving problems. Proficient with SolidWorks and/or other CAD packages. Specifically experienced designing injection-molded plastic components. 3+ years experience in Product Design, including hands-on prototyping work (drills, x-acto knives, sand paper, sticky tape – whatever it takes to get it made!). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including using sketches and pictures as necessary. English required; Hindi and/or Karnada a strong plus. Additional Experience: Startup company experience, Experience in rural areas and understanding of rural life, Basic electronics knowledge (using multimeters, soldering, etc), Basic programming knowledge (example: C-language, Matlab, etc), Skilled with Adobe Photoshop and/or other image and video editing software.
