PM Group are seeking an experienced Layout and Piping Designer to work on projects for Indian and Multinational Clients. 8-10 years experience on projects for the bio-pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industries is required.

Lead Layout Co-Ordinator / Piping Designer

PM Group are currently looking for a Lead Layout Co-Ordinator/ Piping Designer to be based in our Bangalore office to work on projects for Indian and Multinational Clients.

Specific Responsibilities will include;
• Development of Piping and Layout Design Strategy
• Preparation of Preliminary Building and Equipment Layouts
• Initiation and Co-ordination of customer and inter-disciplinary input into layouts and Piping Design.
• Issue of Equipment Arrangements at various design stages – Preliminary, Design, Tender and Construction.
• Preparation of Main Piping Routing and Pipe Rack Design
• Preparation of Piping General Arrangements, Specials and Piping Support Details
• Preparation of Piping Specifications
• Prepare Material Take Offs (MTO) for Pricing and Tender Purposes.
• Preparation of Piping Cost Estimates
• Preparation and Issue of Piping Isometrics.
• Provision of Construction Support

General Responsibilities
• Perform work in compliance with PM’s Quality Management System
• Demonstrate an understanding of scope of work assigned.
• Demonstrate an understanding of commercial aspects (man-hours and capital cost) of their work.
• Demonstrate knowledge of PM and/or industry standard methodologies and tools.
• Provide technical expertise to projects.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the market place in which PM operates (e.g. future client projects, competitor activities, etc) .
• In liaison with the Lead Engineer/Project Manger and/or Department Manager, establish the project design and execution requirements
• Carry out site visits / site surveys.
• Attend project design team meetings and project review meetings.
• Communicate directly with the Client.
• Interact and communicate with own department, other departments, project team members, clients and other external parties to ensure co-ordination of activities.
• Prepare technical documents, including checking as appropriate, in accordance with agreed schedules and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with Procurement Department on the preparation and evaluation of procurement and tender documentation
• Plan and deliver multiple tasks in a timely fashion to meet project schedules.
• Deliver project work within budgeted man-hours Demonstrate effective verbal and written Communications Skills.
• Provide site support for construction, installation, commissioning, modification and qualification.
• Keep abreast of current technology, regulatory (including Environment Health and Safety) and industry standards within their discipline

Qualifications and Experience:
Required
• 8-10 years experience working in a design environment for the Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharmaceutical Industries.
• Experience in Leading a team of other design engineers to achieve a successful project completion required.
• Experience of design in a cGMP environment – Process Piping and Clean Utilities.
• Recognised Computer Aided Design and Drafting Course
• A good working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Computer literate with good experience of MS Word and Excel

Preferred
• Diploma/ Certificate in a relevant discipline would be of advantage.
• 3D PDS would be an advantage but not necessary.

Basically my work was to design Piping and do process calculation,
also used to do Piping as per the the P & ID and Plant condition ( if there were any clashes or need to re route the piping) using CAD software ( Like Autocad & PDMS ) , and finally Producing Isometrics & generating BOM of Piping.

Apart from this I used to design Vessels for FMCG Industries.Used to calculate the volume of tank and arrive at size of tank as per the data sheets provided by customer, later design the thickness of tank depending on volume and internal pressure, also used to arrive at the
surface area of Jacket and type of jacket if the product needs to be heated or cooled inside the tank. Some of the tanks need to have Agitator for uniformly Mixing the Product inside the tank and some time to maintain the temperature of product.Once the design was finalized or approved from Client next process was to do fabrication drawings, the fabrication drawings were done using Autocad software.
