4. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
(A) Nationality /Citizenship: a citizen of India
The candidate must be a domicile of Punjab and have proficiency in local language i.e. Punjabi and must have passed “Punjabi” as one of the subjects at Matriculation/ Senior School Certificate (old pattern) or at equivalent level.

(B) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 31.12.2009)
Post Code 01: (Officer Scale-I)
A degree from any recognized university in any discipline or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC) marks in aggregate.
The candidate must have proficiency in local language i.e. Punjabi and must have passed “Punjabi” as one of the subject at Matriculation/ Senior School Certificate (old pattern) or at equivalent level.
Preference in selection will be given to candidates with computer Literates in MS DOS, MS Word, MS Excel, and Networking etc.
Candidates with higher qualifications in Engineering/ Agri. Engineering/ Business Administration/ Law/ Agriculture/ Veterinary Science/ M.Sc. Computer Science/ MCA/ Chartered Accountant/ Horticulture/ Marketing etc. will get preference in selection.
The candidate must have knowledge of English language i.e. the candidate must have passed “English” as one of the subject at Matriculation/ Senior School Certificate (old pattern) or at equivalent level.

Post Code 02: (Office Assistant)
Pass with a minimum 60% (55% for SC) marks in aggregate in Matriculation / Senior School Certificate (old pattern) / 10th standard or equivalent.
Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of 10+2 of 10+2+3 pattern/ XI Standard of 11+3 pattern/ Pre-degree or Intermediate or any equivalent examination with 50% (45% for SC) marks in aggregate
Degree of recognized University in any discipline or its equivalent; with a minimum of 50% (45% for SC) marks in aggregate

Diploma in Banking recognized by Central Govt./ State or Union Territory

The candidate must have knowledge of English language i.e. the candidate must have passed “English” as one of the subject at Matriculation/ Senior School Certificate (old pattern) or at equivalent level.

6. APPLICATION FEE FOR EACH POST INCLUDING POSTAL CHARGES (NON REFUNDABLE):

(i) Application fee including postage should be paid by a single Demand Draft / Bankers’ Cheque issued by MALWA GRAMIN BANK Or a Scheduled Commercial Bank for each post separately to be drawn as below –

(ii) Bank Demand Draft/ Bank Pay Order must be purchased on or after the date of advertisement but on or before the last date for receipt of application.
(iii) Payment of application fee and postage charges by Cash / Cheques / Money Orders etc will not be accepted.
(iv) Candidate must write his/ her name, date of birth & address on the reverse of the Demand Draft/ Banker’s Pay Order.
(v) Candidates applying for both the posts should submit separate application for each post along with requisite application fee and postage charges.
(vi) Application once made will not be allowed to be withdrawn and postage charges once paid will not be refunded on any account nor can it be held in reserve for any other Examination or selection process.

7. SELECTION PROCEDURE:
WRITTEN TEST = 80 Marks
The selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of written test and interview. All the eligible candidates who apply with the requisite fee and whose applications are received in time and who fulfil the eligibility criteria, will be called for a written test, which will be objective type, comprising the following:
Objective Type Tests
Reasoning
Quantitative Aptitude
General Awareness
English Language

Note: a) The total marks obtained in all the four papers will be converted from 200 to 80, for the purpose of preparing merit list after the written examination.
b) The candidate must obtain minimum of 40% marks (35% for SC/OBC/PC/EXS) in each paper.
WRONG ANSWERS given in the objective tests will result in negative marks. 1/4 MARK will be deducted for each wrong answer
Interview: 20 Marks
The candidate must obtain minimum of 40% marks (35% for SC/OBC/PC/EXS) in the personal interview to qualify for final merit listing.
Final selection will be on the basis of the ranking accorded, after adding the marks obtained in the written test and interview, subject to securing minimum marks in the written test and interview, as stated above

Note: Other allowances & perquisites will be admissible as per rules of the Bank

9. PROBATION:
FOR Post Code- 01 (OFFICER SCALE-I)
Selected candidates, if certified fit medically; will be appointed as Officer Scale-I, on a probation for two years, which shall be extendable by the Appointing Authority for a period not exceeding one year. The Bank reserves the right to terminate service of the candidate if found unsuitable at any time during probationary period or the extended probationary period without any notice or assigning any reason thereof.

FOR POST CODE – 02 (OFFICE ASSISTANT):
Selected candidates, if certified fit medically; will be appointed as Office Assistant, on a probation for one year, which shall be extendable by the Appointing Authority for a period not exceeding six months. The Bank reserves the right to terminate service of the candidate if found unsuitable at any time during probationary period or the extended probationary period without any notice or assigning any reason thereof.

10. Guarantee BOND:
Post Code- 01 (OFFICER SCALE-I)
Before joining as Officer Scale-I, the selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking to serve the Malwa Gramin Bank for a minimum probation period i.e. for two years. In the event of resigning from the Malwa Gramin Bank before the expiry of the bond period, they will be liable to pay liquidated damages of Rs. 20,000/-( Rs. Twenty Thousand only) towards partial cost of training/ other Misc. Expenses. Therefore, for this purpose, he/she will have to submit a stamped Bond duly Executed by two sureties of sound financial standing good for an amount equivalent to Rs. 20,000/-( Rs. Twenty Thousand only).

Before joining as Office Assistant, the selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking to serve the Malwa Gramin Bank for a minimum probation period i.e. for one year. In the event of resigning from the Malwa Gramin Bank before the expiry of the bond period, they will be liable to pay liquidated damages of Rs. 10,000/-( Rs. Ten Thousand only) towards partial cost of training/ other Misc. Expenses. Therefore, for this purpose, he/she will have to submit a stamped Bond duly Executed by two sureties of sound financial standing good for an amount equivalent to Rs.10,000/-(Rs. Ten Thousand only).

12. Last Date for Receipt of APPLICATIONS:
Applications complete in all respects should reach on or before 24-11-2009

Candidates in their own interest are advised to submit their application well in time before the last date to avoid possible delay in postal transit. An application received after the last date will be rejected and will not be entertained in any case.

13. CALL LETTERS for WRITTEN EXAMINATION for Post Code- 01 (OFFICER SCALE-I) and Post Code- 02 (OFFICE ASSISTANT):
Call letter for written examination will be sent to the eligible candidates at the correspondence address given in their application form by ordinary post and requests for sending letters to a different address subsequently will not be accepted.

An eligible candidate for written examination who do not receive the call letter by (i) 18-01-2010 for Post Code No. 1 (i.e. Officer Scale-I) and (ii) 25-01-2010 for Post Code No. 2 (i.e. Office Assistant) should contact the Bank at the following address with details of his/her name, address, date of birth, xerox copy of the application form, details of Bank Demand Draft/ Bank Pay Order and Examination Centre opted, for obtaining duplicate call letters. 14. Pre- Examination Training for SC/ Minority/EXS candidates. (For both Posts)
It is proposed to impart free Pre- Examination Training to SC/Minority/EXS Candidates at Patiala. The Training Centre may also be changed at the discretion of the Bank. An eligible candidate who wishes to avail Pre-Examination Training should fill in the relevant column in the application format. All expenses regarding travelling, boarding, lodging etc will be borne by the candidate for attending the Pre- Examination Training programme at the concerned Training Centre.
