Southern Railway Sports Association Recruitment 2009 : Sports Quota

The Southern Railway Sports Association invites applications from outstanding Sportspersons who satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down below for recruitment against Sports Quota in Group C Categories only in the disciplines mentioned below against the Open Advertisement Quota for the year 2009 - 2010 :

1. DISCIPLINE : ALL MEN
a) Football : Defender, Mid Fielder, Striker, Goal Keeper.
b) Cricket : All Rounder, Batsman, Off-spinner, Med. Pacer.
c) Hockey : Midfield, Forward.
d) Athletics : 100m and Long Jump
e) Waterpolo : Goal Keeper, Centre Forward.

2. NORMS FOR GROUP C RECRUITMENT (12 Posts) :
Initial Grade Rs.5,200 - 20,200. Grade Pay. Rs.1,900/-

(i) Represented the Country as a member of Junior / Senior team in International Meets / Tournaments - Olympic Games, World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Asian Championships, Commonwealth Games or Commonwealth Championships. (ii) A State OR equivalent Unit in National Championship in Senior or Junior Section and obtained at least 3rd position.

(iii) A University in All India Inter-University Meets and obtained at least 3rd position in Individual Events or at least 2nd position in Team Games.

(iv) A member of a team securing 1st position in Federation Cup Championships.

In Cricket Semi-Finalist in the Elite Group of Ranji Trophy, Semi Finalist in the All India Knock out stage of the Ranji Trophy One Day, Finalists in Duleep Trophy and Prof. D.B. Deodhar Trophy are also eligible.

NOTE :
Athletics - Under-20 National Junior Athletic Championships shall be treated as Junior National Athletic Championships.
Cricket - Under-22 Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy (Inter-State Championships) Semifinalist, Under-19 Cooach Behar (Inter-State Championships) - Semifinalist of Elite Group,
Under-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy (One Day Limited Overs Inter-State Championship) -
Semifinalist, Under-19 Vijay Hazare Trohpy (One Day Limited Overs All India
Inter Zonal Championship) - only Finalist.
Football - Under-19 Junior Football Championship for B.C. Roy Trophy shall be treated as Junior National Football Championships.
Hockey - Under-21 National Junior Hockey Championships shall be treated as Junior National Hockey Championships.
Waterpolo - Under-17 National Junior Aquatic Championships shall be treated as Junior National Aquatics Championships.

3. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATION :
30 days from the date of publication in the Newspapers.

General Conditions:
a) Only those sportspersons who have participated in the Championships after April 2007
and who are currently active will be eligible to apply for appointment against Sports
Quota. The Selection will be conducted through trial and interview.
b) The candidate should send their Bio-data with education qualification, 2 Passports Size
Photos, Sports Achievements, Press Cuttings duly attested by Gazetted Officers,
2 self-addressed envelopes (11” x 5”), one duly stamped (Rs.5/-) should be sent with
the application.
c) Age : Minimum 18, Maximum 25 as on 01-01-2010.
d) Educational Qualification for Recruitment - Minimum Qualification is 10th Passed.
e) Postal Order of Rs.60/- should be sent along with application and the Postal Order
may be drawn infavour of “THE CHIEF CASHIER, SOUTHERN RAILWAY, CHENNAI - 3”
which is non-refundable. The above fees will not be applicable to SC/ST candidates.
The cover containing the application should be superscribed “APPLICATION FOR
APPOINTMENT UNDER SPORTS QUOTA”.
